Norwegian-born singing sensation Sissel will be the guest artist for the 2006 Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square Christmas concerts, which will be presented December 14-17 in the Conference Center in Salt Lake City.
This concert
will be seen by 80,000 live audience members and by millions when broadcast nationally in the USA on the PBS broadcast system. Last year's Tabernacle Choir concert was the #1 rated Christmas program on PBS.
She will perform a number of Scandinavian melodies as well as new arrangements with the Choir and Orchestra. As always, the program promises to be a holiday delight for all in attendance!
Sissel has sung in front of queens and princes and shared stages with superstars of every musical genre including Josh Groban, Placido Domingo, and Bryn Terfel. She performed at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer and the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony. Her haunting, ethereal vocal tracks for the soundtrack to 'Titanic' helped sell some 30 million copies worldwide.
A child star since age 11, Sissel is a national institution in Norway and has sung all over the world, selling eight million solo albums since her recording debut. Her unique voice is well-suited to any style of music, from operatic arias and centuries-old classical melodies to traditional folk, modern jazz, pop, punk and hip-hop. This is not her first appearance with the Choir and Orchestra; in May 2005 she thrilled audiences as guest artist on a special edition of Music and the Spoken Word which celebrated the 100th anniversary of Norway's independence.
