Word on the street is that Jim Carrey is signing on with Robert Zemeckis to re-do, yet again, A Christmas Carol. Zemeckis, with one major Christmas movie credit in Polar Express, plans to heavily utilize the technology of motion capture in the movie.
News of the project was hinted at by Bob Hoskins, of Who Framed Roger Rabbit fame, who was interviewed in an exclusive at Empire Online:
"He's going to make A Christmas Carol with Jim Carrey," Hoskins says of the director he previously worked with on Who Framed Roger Rabbit. "He wants me to play Mr Fezziwig. He's doing in that way he did Polar Express. You stand in a box with that funny suit on and it reads everything you do...Am I going to do it? Of course I am!"
Motion capture is the same technology Zemeckis employed in making Tom Hanks an animated character (several times over) in Polar Express.
No word on when this project might be complete or which studio might back the project.
