We put our lights up on december the 7th.
The day after we "celebrate" the birthday of Saint Nicholas.

For us it is usually late November or Early December. Hopfully before the snow is out :D But when they are up then it can snow.

Exactly. I should be doing the lights right about now --- it is 65 degrees outside, about 40 at night. But noooooo. I always wait until there is snow on the ground and the risk of electrocution is greater.

We don't put lights outside we put them inside. Like on the garlin and stuff. It looks realy cool cause we put on all the lights at night and if u look in our front windows u can just see our living room glowing. And when i get up in the night to use the bathroom i look out in our living room and it just gives me a good sense of feeling.

I wonder if that would be considered extreme Christmas decorating.

Oh, we do the same thing. My eldest daughter has a real knack for using lights indoors. She usually embeds the lights in the thick garland that is draped over the door and on the stair rail. She uses only white lights and she selects just a few spots where the lights twinkle. The effect every year -- even though we know exactly what is coming -- is dazzling. It adds so much to the home!

Probably. I thought I'd get an early start on things this year and told myself before I hit the road earlier this week that I'd be working on lights this Halloween weekend. Even told the kids to get ready.

Today it is raining cats and dogs and the snow level is dropping.

Right on time.

I laughed when I read Jeff's electrocution statement because I remember taking off a half day to put up lights one year and it was pouring rain the entire time! I couldn't reschedule, so just had to staple and pray, staple and pray. :o

 If that happens again maybe test them inside and if they work you can put them up but just not plug them in until it stops raining.

It would do no good to get electrocuted that soon to Christmas.

We have all of our lights inside.

I have lights up in my toom all year. I love them too much to want to take them down. We're in a new house this year, and my lights have just gone up.
I put my tree up at the start of December, and I have 3 sets of lights on my tree. I got a new set this year - glowing Santa hats. They are adorable! I cannot wait to have all my Christmas things in my new room!

We usually put up our outdoor lights on Thanksgiving weekend, too. And yes, my parents have told me about not plugging them in on inclement weather days.

But what is it about the water that can prevent the lights from coming on the moment you put in the plug? I don't understand.

Yep, I love having the lights.
I've seen some madly covered houses in my town.

My room looks so nice, with all it's lights. I totally love it!

In our area the weather has turned cold and snowy. In the past week several have been injured putting up Christmas lights. Actually, let me rephrase that -- several have been injured being stupid.

I've tried to make up for the lack of lights on the outside of our house by really doing things up on the inside. That way at least my little ones can participate.

We have had no snow here, so it's been reasonably safe.

It's fun for the kids to help you with decorations and the tree. My little brothers, though, are not interested, and would fight and break things. They are so spoilt that Christmas means nothing to them. That REALLY annoys me. They don't even say thank you when they open their presents!

I used to love Christmas as a kid. It was such an exciting time. I totally loved helping my Mum put up the tree and the lights, etc!

Well, I put my outdoor lights up over the weekend, considering it was warm outside.

Good thing, too, because tonight's gonna be cold, and it'll snow tomorrow.

We put our lights up inside and outside just before Thanksgiving. Some folks in our neighborhood put them even up earlier. Our neighborhood is lit up on Thanksgiving night. It is beautiful!

I may mount some new hooks outside this weekend as the weather is suppose to be warmer. No fun doing in cold and no telling what the weather will do a couple weeks from now

Week after halloween I'll start. I need to buy some new lights for the front. I like to mix the LED lights and standard lights together, its looks nice with the softer look of the LED mixed in. Got the LED, now need some new standard strands.

After I put them up, I wait until mid November to turn them on, or at least until I'm done the inside of the house.

Someone needs to invent some lights that can be used for all holidays. Flip a button they turn orange, flip again they turn blue and gree, etc.

My lights will be going up tomorrow morning!! We ended up getting the blue and white frosted icicle lights this year, since I am having an all blue tree we decided to stick with that theme and use that color outside also. I am so excited, this being the first year in the house and all. Its gonna be like Christmas Eve around here tonite, I am so excited to see the place all lit up I will be wishing for dark early tomorrow. Of course I still have all of my blow molds to put out but I will take my time with them later in the morning to make sure I get them just right. I think we are also gonna go back to Walmart later in the week and pick up some of the mesh lights in blue to use on our shrubs on either side of the porch.

I will!!

We just got back inside from checking and watering the tree and BF was looking over our shrubs and has decided the mesh lights are a must and now is even talking about putting the icicle lights along the carport (it is detached )!!! I love when he gets to talking about it because he normally has a take it or leave it kinda attitude towards Christmas. I think maybe he is catching the spirit!!!!!!

Made a mad dash to our local Walmart this morning after finding out they got another shipment in of mesh lights. Got home, got them up only to have the center of one set not work. I plugged them in before I put them on the bush and THEN they stop working. BF found the problem and tried to fix it but couldnt so I had to rip them back off. That makes me so extremely mad...do they not test these things? Just the way they have been wrapped up inside the boxes this year has been horrible. And the mesh lights arent cheap, 7.88 a box!!!

Grrrrrr, my first official miffed off moment of the holiday decorating season.

I usually put up the lights in early October while the risk of snow and frost is less, because a couple years back, I fell off the foor putting up lights due to some ice, some Im very precautious as you can imagine.

I start about early October with Halloween lights and since the weather is still nice, I'll put up lights that go on top of the house (ie Santa in sleigh and reindeer) so I don't have to worry about the possibility of high winds, snow or ice. I'll put the rest up right after Halloween and light them about a week or so before Thanksgiving.

Depending on the weather, we like to start putting up the outside lights up on the house/fence/garage the weekend before Thanksgiving and then the Saturday after Thanksgiving we put the rest of outside decorations up.

I usually put them up on Turkey Day or the day after. Usually when it's not so cold.

We don't really do the lights outside thing, for some reason our yard never gets the christmas treatment, nobody could see it from ours anyway but I might put some up in the trees, I've always liked that look never tried it.
Most of you are saying you put your lights up near thanksgiving, what is thanksgiving?

Our lights will go up the weekend of Thanksgiving. Our neighbors and I use the same company to come out and put our lights up for us. I have only live in this new home for one year. So this will be our 2nd Christmas here. Maybe we will do more to the outside as well. :yahoo:
