Here's a thread for party planning tips in general..."works for me" posts are welcome...that give us a tip or idea that has worked well for you. Also links to good party planning sites are awesome too.

Here's a site that I love to check out off and on:

Sandra Lee Semi-Homemade (http://www.semihomemade.com/tablescapes/holidayspirits.htm)

The above link takes you directly to a holiday tablescape idea but check out the rest of the site ...there are dleightful recipes, decor ideas and some crafts also. Semi-Homemade is based on the premise that you can use store bought and add a little of your own and make it....semi-homemade...there are always great things at the site to inspire and delight for all holidays not just Christmas

I am hoping cathymac will share her ideas regarding creating a Prop Closet...with supplies on hand for parties. She does an excellent job of talking about it...

Semi-Homemade ideas are great! Did any of you watch "Christopher... somebody" on TV? He was always suggesting you just buy delicious food - and set up a table in an interesting way - with elevated serving dishes (on bricks and things) and candles -- and just have fun! Make it beautiful but don't go crazy! The main thing is to celebrate and hjave fun and enjoy! I like it!!
