I saw this on TV the other day and I thought it was pretty cool. I forget who was making it and exactly how they made it, but I'm sure you could find the recipe somewhere on the internet. But she took snow, put vanilla extract, and some other things in it, and it was snow that tasted like vanilla ice cream. I'm sure you can do it with any flavor you like. I'll try my best to find this recipe, but I thought it was a pretty cool idea.

I hope I don't ruin that idea but I guess it would depend on the quality of the snow in your area. I would be worried about chemicals in with the snow from pollution to do that. Plus I would wonder of anyone offered me the "lemon" flavour.

Ah, someone had to say it. As for quality of snow, sorry folks, I think we've got everyone beat here in Utah.

What do you mean you have everyone beat? Do you mean the snow is cleanest there overall or beat that it is the worst? :D

I don't know if someone deleted my post with the recipe for Snow Ice Cream on the In The Kitchen board, or the system deleted it because it has happened before. But I'll try to find the recipe again.

As a kid with 200+ inches to choose from each season, we ate snow regularly. My favorite? I used to dump a few spoonfuls of Nestle's Quik on it and stir it up. And remember, as Frank said so elequently, "Watch out where the huskies go..." :( :-( :x :( :-( :x

We rarely have snow here anymore - and when we do, not enough for snowcream. We had it as kids. The rules were simple:
1. Never eat the first snow of the season
2. Never use yellow snow
So, I would love to have the snowfall to be able to do this! I miss the snow! But, we shall overcome! LOL

You can use freezer scrapings as a cheap substitute until it snows again.

I wish we had a picture of this story: We have a group of older folks at church called the M&Ms. They were having a shindig at the annex and one lady, who is pretty large, was trying to get at a candy bar she saw in the bottom of a big chest freezer. She fell in headfirst and her feet were kicking back and forth straight up in the air! Everyone was laughing so hard that no one could help her for almost a minute.
