40th Birthday Party wonderful except for....

It was an awesome party - all but 4 people came...really fun time. However, when we watched the video we saw that my Aunt and my neighbor arrived each holding a card for me. When we got home and I opened everything - the 2 envelopes were nowher to be found. We didn't see them in the pile when we came home. We know they brought one. When I went to the restaurant today to ask for them to look - they told me there was another party in there now and they would callme - they never did! I don't care about the gift - really...but, if I don't thank my 85 year old Aunt - oor my neighbor - well, let's just say my name will be dirt... oh well. I could send a generic thank you ...what d'ya think?

I'm glad you had a lovely time, but sorry the cards were misplaced/lost/whatever. I'd explain the situation to them on the phone or in person but send a card anyway to thank them for coming and for the sweet thought (because that's what counts). I'm sure they'd understand.

And, just a thought, but if they included a check inside the card, by telling them, they could simply void it and write you another one if they wanted.

were so smart! Thanks for the idea. I ended up calling my neighbor. She had an iou in the card, as whatever she ordered me hadn't come in yet!

Good ideas here for taking care of the missing cards. Was if fun to have the party at a restaurant? It sounds like a great idea.

I am glad that you decided to call and explain to your Aunt what had happened. I am also very happy that you enjoyed your birthday. That's nice that you send out thank-you notes to everyone. People don't do that, much anymore.
