We've got rain here in the valley but they're saying a foot of snow for our mountains today. The frost is definitely on the pumpkin -- a sure sign Christmas is coming!

I saw on the news today that Denver Co. got tons of snow. They got their preview of Christmas. Of course, here in Fl. it aint gona happen but love watching the snow falling on the tv news. I am always in the Christmas mode but seeing all this snow today on TV really put me there.

:-) I love fluffy snowflakes, but not so much that you feel like you are living inside a Snowglobe. The leaves are falling from the trees now, the air is a little cooler, I can smell chimney smoke, but likely won't see any snow until early November.
:) I'd love to get snow on christmas. But it's never happend. Living in texas and all. Bu this year it got cold fast so i have a chance! 8)

Would you believe there are some areas in Canada without snow yet?
We don't have snow in Southern Ontario yet.

Hey, cspelling. You've got a nice site there. You ought to hang out awhile. Ha, a little Christmas light humor there.
Anyway, welcome!

since we're on the other side of the lake from Ontario, Canada we get snow pretty much the same time they do...
it's been pretty cool (temp wise) here but no threat of snow yet!
I can remember times when we've had snow for Halloween..thankfully not that often though.
If I had my way it would snow from November 1 to January 31 and that's it!! :D

I'm with you there, Annie. There's nothing worse than making Memorial Day plans and you're still shoveling.
Since we've lived here the kids have always had to really bundle up for trick or treating. Many Halloweens we have had to don the snow boots too. It is a sure sign of what season we're heading into!

what affects us here are the lakes. If our lakes don't freeze quickly enough we're at the mercy of the "lake effect" machine.
They were talking about that on our news htis morning how the lakes are 3 degrees warmer than usual. They can't predict whether that means more snow or less or warmer winter or colder..so I guess it's a crap shoot..
:???:
What I like about the snow here though is that it looks so pretty on the trees. WHen I drive into work the canopy of trees lining the streets is just so pretty it makes me want to stop driving and just stare at it..
Plus it's better than rain!!

Thanks for the welcome Jeff and the compliments on my site. This is a really nice forum. I love the festive emoticons.
To scottishrose: I think the January 31 end of snow would be nice. Last February was very cold even for us pretty much the whole month.
But for areas that normally get snow, it is very disappointing when there is a "green" Christmas. I do remember however some Christmas Eve Day's with no snow at all only to wake up Christmas Day with some snow. :-D

Unfortunately, Naples Florida never gets snow but it is always snowing in my Christmas heart.

it started snowing in the suburbs south of the city yesterday. Here in the northern suburbs we still only have rain...they're calling for it to get a bit warmer by the weekend...but I doubt it'll get above 55 until next spring..

Being raised in the lake effect snow belt of lake Erie, I am familiar with snow, but since I have lived in the South for about 20 years, it is just a dim memory now. Here in Nashville we may get a couple inches most years, though just south of us they got an 8" snowstorm last year. Before my son graduated from high school, I remember having to come pick him up because they were closing the schools due to the PREDICTION of snow! When we had a 5" snowfall a few years back, I saw a total of 27 vehicles, some four wheel drive, stuck on one exit ramp on I-65. On the news they told of a Hummer that was stuck. How embarrassing. Twinkle, I really like that big picture you posted. I wish I could make an animated wallpaper, but don't know how. Any ideas, anyone?

You know, I'd like to get some snow too.
As a matter of fact, last year, my area got some snow. But the best place to find snow is in the East Coast, particularly NYC.
You will find a video clip of snow coverage on Christmas Eve 1998 in NYC, by going here: http://www.geocities.com/realvideofiles4

In Nashville you could practically plant crops. OK, they would die, but you could still plant them!

The past week it has snowed, today instead rain, but there is a cold air that I hope ports snow, but dress in city and after little a snow is all black one and it is not beautiful!
In Italy in these days they have fallen from 20 to 50 cm of snow, but the problem they are the rivers...
