I have a favorite answer about foods for Thanksgiving (although it is the same for Christmas). Someone asked how many "side dishes" there should be. My favorite answer was .."Remember, those vegetables and things just take up room meant for pie!"

Room on the table, room in your stomach! For pie. My favorite food is pie. BUT -- the crust is the most important part! It must be flaky and crisp and delicious. Not gooey. Not covered with some sugar glaze. Nor a "crumb" topping. Just fabulous crust and a delicious filling.

I know that we must have other foods, and they must be good. But all I REALLY care about is the pie. (And lots of pie, and different kinds too.)
