Thought Id do something different. How about we post a video from youtube of our favourite band/musician/song on here to show people what we like. No xmas music though for this ok!!!
I'll go first. My choice is a song called Ghost by a finnish Goth/Rock band The 69 Eyes! And before you completely write them off , have a listen first and tel me what you think.? Maybe this style of music is different to what you heard before, you might like it, you might not, thats ok. We cant all like the same thing.

I love lots of different "tunes". All depends on my mood and what's going on around me. Some days it's rock, classic rock, blues, jazz, reggae etc etc... My tune of choice lately is Joe Cocker's "You can leave your hat on". Probably because I watched 9 1/2 weeks not long ago. So now the songs been stuck in my head! =)

I´m a big Janet Jackson fan...the nipplegate thing was stupid...and she didn´t need it...but well...we all mess up from time to time...but this girl was instilled my love for music back then with her song "Again"....I especially love her videos that are always so great choreographed and everything....great melodies and great messages...at least until 97....after the Velvet Rope Album that came out that year, she has decided to only speak about sex in her songs...which is alright to some extent but gets boring and wears out after some time....She had and I´m sure still has so much more to say than just that.

Well, actually, my dad listens to Southern Gospel and my mom likes Rod Stewart and things more from the 70's. My mom introduced me to John Lennon, though... even though I perfer Paul McCartney's solo work. Haha. But yeah, my dad doesn't really care and my mom will randomly burst into Yellow Submarine. Lol. 70's AM radio was the BEST for diversity! Today, you have stations devoted solely to Oldies, Country, Rap, Jazz, etc... but the 70's... a typical play list would start with Kiss, followed by The Carpenters, followed by Queen, followed by The Osmonds, followed by Bachman-Turner Overdrive, followed by Tony Orlando and Dawn...
We shall never see it's like again... :-?

09-23-2008, 12:57 PM
over here in Germany....that´s how radio still is....There is only one station I listen to that goes a bit more into the Hip Hop, RnB genre....the rest is playing pretty much everything that is hip and in the charts....of course with some shows that play songs from certain areas...like this one show called 7 from the 70s and stuff like that...so we have that diversity still.....
I for myself love it like that...but would love to have a channel that only plays my beloved Rap and RnB, Reaggea stuff....and especially a Christmas Radio Channel around Christmas time....that I could listen to while in the car....since my car doesn´t have a CD Player

Linkin Park "Pushing Me Away" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGk01uHcsPI)

Ho'opi'i Brothers "Kupa Landing" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlRugBW-_6I)
But that's just a sampling of the (mostly) "clean" and live. For instance, If your sensibilities aren't delicate, taste the delicious realm of Mindless Self Indulgence (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cT9VQ7ZmRNM) (<-- that's a relatively tame one). Mmm... My favorite band is Aerosmith. I have liked them since I was in 3rd grade and my best friends sister used to play their records all the time. Their album "Night in the Ruts" was the second album I ever bought (the 1st was The Cars--I was on a Cars kick in 5th grade). I have seen them in concert 7 times, once front row. And...I had their logo (the wings) tattooed on my right ankle in 1991! I'd say that makes me a pretty big fan!
Besides that, I like a lot of bands and music. I have a pretty eclectic taste in music except I'm not too in to country or blues. I know, it's funny I live in Nashville! What's even more funny is that I moved here years ago to be a ROCK singer! Actually, Nashville is pretty much a music mecca--there are a lot of rock musicians that live and record here. Jack White (The White Stripes--another fav band of mine) for one!

By the end of the Seventies American broadcast radio had just about completed the downward spiral into the crap that it is today. Artists like Rachel Sweet were having to go the UK to seek fortune and fame.
So for your enjoyment today is a double dose of what you may have missed back in the day. Here’s Rachel Sweet with two of my favorites from her first lp in 1978, ”Fool Around.” A fellow named Elvis Costello wrote the second one! Perhaps you have heard of him.

For me, I enjoy heavy metal. My all time favorite group is KISS. This doesn't mean that I like all heavy metal, just some. Others I like are Motley Crue, Van Halen, Ozzy, Twisted Sister.....I'm sure you get it by now.
And I also like some forms of Jazz and Big Band music as well. I will not listen to rap/hip hop or country. Those two get NO play time at all.

U2

And my sweety has gotten me into The Beatles. Never really liked them much, but to be honest I guess I never gave them much of a chance.

Obviously my very favorite is THE BEATLES!!!!! I have been a die hard fan of them for over 25 years. Vh1 Classics showed nothing but The Beatles a week prior to the release of Rock Band and my hubby watched a lot of it with me. Then of course going to see Paul McCartney last month I was listening to The Beatles non stop. I am glad he is liking them more. cheesy
A few others I like are:
U2
Queen
Rush
Pink Floyd
I am not into a lot of country music but I LOVE Patsy Cline. Kind of strange she is one of my favorites and I am not a big country music fan, she is the queen of country music!
I like a lot of different other music from hip hop, rap, opera, big band and more depending on my mood.

Ok my list keeps getting bigger, didn't realize I liked so many bands.
Pink Floyd
Queen
Grand Funk Railroad
Deep Purple
The Eagles
Joe Walsh
Journey
The Police
Eric Clapton
The Cars
You will notice that there is no rap or country on my list. I hate rap with a passion, and I never really got into country.

My favorite group is a group called The Move they are from the late 60's British music scene. All my favorite groups are from 60's Britain especially Beatles, Idle Race more of the psychedelic groups. Which I feel is ironic because I wasn't alive in the 60's never been to Great Britain.

This music is not by my favorite artist *who i'll surely post later*, but very special to me....
This piece is a movie music, like most of the music that Yann Tiersen writes. It has a special place in my heart, because it is the first thing my current partner and i got to talk about and we set a date to play this together... hahaha... playing this he stole my heart...

My GF would be so very happy with you right now she is a huge Backstreet Boys fan(especially Nick Carters). It is to the point of obsession(at least I tell her that). Since she heard them when she was 7.
As for me I am a Hip Hop head. I my taste are usually underground. I do not like Commercial Hip Hop, however there are some people who get radio play I like or respect, but not many. My top Favorites are:
Chino XL
Canibus
Immortal Technique
Skillz
I would post some youtube videos, however I feel it would be a waste as most people seem to hate "Rap" and probably wouldn't give it a chance.
