:DI am a nostalgic type of person. I am sentimental over everything!!
I can smell certain smells and it immediately carry me back 30 years ago!
I love nostalgic/old fashioned type of ornaments, Christmas cards, and music. A lot of my friends and my stepmom are more modern with their tastes. How about you? Are you modern or nostalgic??:tree:

I am more modern, but I am very into creating and maintaining traditions. I suppose it is due to the current stage in life I am experiencing.

I am probably split down the middle between the two. I love my family's traditional meals and activities and decorations and such, but now that I'm a little older I like to add new things in all the time. Especially the decorations. I've been adding hallmark ornaments like crazy the last few years (specifically Peanuts ones).

I am a little of both...I love my vintage ornaments as well as modern ones like Mickey and various cartoon characters that my daughter also loves. So yeah a bit of each. But I have been on the hunt for quite sometime now for lots of vintage Christmas decor. And I totally agree with you about how certain things can take you back. My mom used to put up stikees every year on the windows...and I hadn't seen these in years. But I found the company online and now get their catalog. I got some that are just like the ones I grew up with as a kid and they still smell the same...*L* I also love the popcorn plaques (we had these too) and hope to order some this or next year.

I would have to say both also! Im very much into family traditions etc but I just got married not too long ago and have a 1 1/2 year old son so I want to make new traditions for my new family as well..if that makes sense? But I definitely still love doing a lot of the old stuff and hope it never changes cheesy

Even though I have an upside down tree, I am definitly a nostalgic person. I watch White Christmas and then the other Christmas movies. I need to hear "I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" then I listen to the other Christmas songs.

Put me in the nostalgic category, though some modern do also appeal at times.

thank You.....I think they are very cute and beautifull....if had a little more money, Iīd buy them myself...but the sending to Germany and the paying is kinda expensive when You donīt have a credit card (they are not so common in Germany....we usually only pay with those EC-Bankcards)

I with the both group. Certain smells and sights also take me back to Christmas when I was a kid, especailly the smell of scotch tape. LOL! I enjoy the older traditions and decorations we have but equally enjoy creating new one and adding to our decorations with newer modern pieces.

I am slightly modern, but tend to be more traditional and, of course, nostalgic.

I feel as though I'm a great mix of both. I love watching old films and listening to Christmas tunes by Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby, but I also love "new" Christmas classics like Love Actually and Home Alone. I like modern Christmas decorations mainly though....so I'm still a mix...I think.

I'm mostly old school and nostalgic, but I welcome modern where modern is good. Listening to Nat King Cole and Ella Fitzgerald singing Christmas tunes … on my iPod. Decorating the Christmas tree with those little Italian lights, instead of the big clunky ones we had when I was a kid. Finding the right presents for everyone … on the Internet. Liking the 1996 The Preacher's Wife as much as the 1947 The Bishop's Wife. Clearing the snow off the walk and driveway with a snow blower cheesy instead of breaking my back shoveling. :-?

Im a bit of both also. Im very nostalgic at Christmas because its a time when you remember family members that have passed on and thinking about past Christmases.
A movie or a song can take me back to when I was a kid too.

I fall more into the nostalgic category every year. I love the old style glass ornaments and am even lucky enough to have a few vintage ones that originally hung on my Grandmother's tree.
The way they reflect the lights on the tree is wonderful. However I really like our artificial trees. Real tress are beautiful but tend to dry out before I am ready to take them down.

I would say more Nostalgic because of the type of decorations I have and the type of traditions I have, but saying that some of the older decorations are getting in to fashion. I also have a bit of modern in me as I add something new to my collection every year!
Great post by the way!

Definitely nostalgic for me. My husband and I are Civil War reenactors, our house is over 100 years old and filled with antiques (I always say my house is hip and modern for the 1890's). My Christmas decorations are either family heirlooms or bought at antique shops. And I prefer old fashioned, more religious Christmas music to anything modern.

At what point does modern become traditional? LOL Because I'm definitely more traditional and I LOVE nostalgia. But at some point, my nieces and nephews "modern" Christmas traditions have kind of snuck (I know that's not a real word, lol... but it should be!), they kind of snuck into our Christmas traditions too.
I think there is definitely a faded line between nostalgia and tradition... those really special moments in our life are what makes some of the best traditions. :)

I consider myself more of a "hybrid" of both, I love classic, vintage, nostalgic Christmas decor, but I also do a lot of more modern with LED lights, pop culture tree ornaments. I may lean more nostalgic if it comes down to which one I had to choose.
