I have started cleaning and getting organized for Christmas and Thanksgiving which arrives first. I have printed out the necessary forms, bought a 3 ring notebook which holds my forms and recipes that I have printed out.

Well I had a slight delay in my planning. We had a water situation that resulted in no water and it has been going on for a few weeks now. Hopefully, it will be ok now that we had a little bit of rain.
So, it does hold up some of my cleaning but I did manage to clean out a closet in my guest room and today I am going to do my other bedroom which is my computer room.

And now it's the time when we get the invasion of the "ladybugs" which is awful and frustrating. So that will distract me for awhile.

Yup, life happens! We can make the most beautiful plans in the world....... but .... then real life happens. To most of us. Most of the time.

I lifted my head this week, and realized that I am just about done with holiday decluttering/deep cleaning. Notice that I did not say "finished". I am not finished. But I realized that the number of weeks (or days) or hours which I am going to devote to this kind of thing is coming to an end. There is too much "real life" going to happen from now on. Time is going to be limited.

So, I am going to switch to "holiday prep" things pretty soon. I love to do those things.

I totally agree SparkleNana! The "real life" stuff has really impeded me as well. My birthday is Wednesday and I told my husband that all I wanted was for us to get this house in order by the end of the month so I can start decorating on November 1st. To me, that will be the best birthday gift! So my planner is probably going to be primarily dedicated to holiday prep which is fine with me!

So anyone who feels bad because they haven't planned accordingly--don't! Stuff happens! Life is like that sometimes!

I'm going shopping tomorrow to stock up for the holidays. Baking needs, household items, canned goods are on my list. I am going to start baking cookies in a few weeks so I want to have all my ingredients on hand and other baking needs in my cabinets so I don't have to go out in the snow, brrrrrrrrrrr next month.

Joyful -- Do they take care of the streets where you live? I spent some winter-time in Vermont, and I couldn't believe what a wonderful job they did taking care of the streets! They took snow seriously. Trucks seemed to be out when the first flake fell. It made getting around so much safer!!!

SparkleNana,
The county I live in is terrible about keeping the roads in good condition. They do better with the main routes but we can't always stay on the main route. I live close to a county line and they keep the road in front of my house in good shape but once you cross into my county it's different. We also get alot of snow drifts here because of the farmland that is open and they won't plant trees to help break the wind, they put up snow fences but they don't seem to help that much. We also get a lot of white out conditions on our major highways and it's been very tragic in the past. I have been in them (the white outs) and it's awful, you have no idea where you are or where the road is located.

And we have to travel so far to go to shopping malls and etc., so it's tough here in the wintertime. So this is the main reason I'm not a fan of snow. I'm very contented with no snow for Christmas.

Getting back to planning I did manage to get my basement in order and cleaned properly so I can set up my Christmas tree next month. I'm looking forward to decorating down there.
