Well my daughter started on her first year of flag football today! She did really well - and i am not saying that just because i am the head coach of her team! She and the other kids had a ball. She is 5 years old and towers over the other boys on her team that are 6.
We won 20-13 as well - and although i expressed over and over to the kids - this is only about fun at this age....... it was nice to win our first game.
Anyway - i thought i would share a few photos with you all (this post and next).
My daughter (Noel - yes named after Christmas) is number 6 in the photos, and i am the big ugly guy coaching em.....
Enjoy!

That's so awesome they won! Wish we had it here for the kids. I coached my daughters T-Ball not this summer but last and it was a blast. I just loved being with the kids. Although I told them all my name they all called me coach. It was the sweetest thing. And one little boy (Drake) brought me flowers on one of the game days. It was alot of fun...I really enjoyed it!

congrats on the first win....always great to introduce kids to sports...they usually put a lot of effort in it...without even knowing tho....and they give back too.

As an avid football fan myself (Go Cowboys!) I think it's more than awesome that your daughter is playing flag football. Introducing girls to sports in general is so wonderful for their self esteem.
I love the pics!!! Thanks for sharing!

I agree! It really does build confidence and self-esteem. And according to studies that have been done girls who participate in sports are less likely to drop out of school, more likely to go on to college, and more likely to graduate from college. It's awesome that you are coaching your daughter's team. She will remember this forever! Have fun!

I also read that a lot of children are top in their sports...usually are top in the academic part as well....because they refuse to fail and put in a lot of effort in whatever they do....at least with girls

First off - GO COWBOYS!!!
We are all Cowboy fans - to the point i have to ask my daughter not to point and say that the - quote - "redskins belong in the trash can!" to people at the grocery store wearing redksins jerseys - etc. Us being in the DC area - kind of hard not to run into one of those poor sad fans everywhere...
=)
And yeah - my wife and i are big believers in her playing whatever she wants to try - none of this - its a boy sport kind of stuff.
Bonus for me is my wife and daughter love football.

Iīm not like that either....I mean...not letting girl do a sport cos itīs for boys....girls should be able to express them the way boys can...even if itīs sports.....I never cared about things like that either when I was lil...always hung around with the guys...and usually beat em too

first of all, congrats on the win and the having fun part.
second of all, sorry, not a cowboys fan. The ex is from Philly so I kind of like the Eagles, but I am a definite chicago bears fan as I am from Illinois.
but all in all, I'm glad your little girl is playing sports and enjoying dads coaching.

when is the next game....btw...whatīs the name of Your team?
We have 2 months of games and practice right before the games. All are on Saturdays and from 9 to 10:45.
Funny thing about the name.
Part of the deal the those running this program offered me was being able to rename the team to what i wanted.
The team is named the Tigers (after LSU). I let my daughter name the team - she was very excited.

tho...the perfect name for a Football team or a track club to me is....Cheetahs....cos they are the fastest.....but then....tigers have more power than Chees....and are fast as well...so maybe they are better suited for football....:D
