I've been wanting to upload a new avatar but everything I try to upload seems to be too big. I can't find anything that's only 10kbs. I know some of the graphics that I see being used have to be more than 10kbs. Including the ones that are being put right into the message body. What gives? :-?

You can right click the various avatars and find out what size they are in the properties box. The reindeer with the swinging wreath is actually smaller than my Goofy and much smaller than Jeff's Santa. I say "much smaller," but I mean in percentage, not real size. All are under 5k somehow. As for the great pics people put in their posts or even in their signatures, those get pretty big, but are beautiful. Twinkle and AuntieMistletoeDear have some of the best. 8)

AuntiMistletoe gave me all the information and even made me a banner but I'm still having a hard time uploading them. I keep getting some kind of error messages even after I resize them. I also can't figure out how to get the banner in my signature. :-o

For the avatars it is not the size of the file as much as it is the physical dimension of it. If you want, you can just email them to me and I'll upload them for you.

I have changed the dimensions too and still I get errors. :-o Auntiemistletoe gave me a link to the software to change the dimensions but everytime I try to upload the avatar I get all this weird http verbage.

:-) HolyNight7, make sure the link that you are trying to upload is the IMG link not the URL link. The IMG link is for the signature section and the URL link is for the Avatar section. The banner I made for you was resized before I uploaded it to Photobucket, it should fit there perfectly.
Good luck!

Well obviously I figured out how to get the graphics in with my signature. Auntimistletoe made the banner for me. I'm still having an avatar problem. The avatar I tried to upload both from my computer and with a url address is only 104x121 with a size of 9.79KB. I'm stumped. :-o

8-) Well, I decided to play Auntie Helper Elf Mistletoe and tried three ways to change my Avatar and it didn't work for me either.
The signature section is fine, but I received the same debug error when I tried to upload from my computer.
I received a message indicating that my profile had been successfully updated when I place an URL link for an Avatar (within the permitted pixel range) and did it a second time with a successful message, but when I checked all that was there was a red X where the image should have been.
I deleted the existing image and tried again with the same outcome.

Might be a problem. Anyone else want to give it a try?

That's what I'm getting as well. When I get an updated message all there is is a red x when I go into the forums to check my avatar. What gives. I'm slowly losing the Christmas spirit over this.

I think it's my fault. During one of our security upgrades I moved the avatars because bots were using that file folder to put virus. You'll have to send me what avatar you want to you and I'll have to upload it for you.

Sorry it has to be that way but until I find a work around we'll have to go this route.

Email it to editor@mymerrychristmas.com

:-) That's fine with me, I'm tired of Bots spoiling our Christmas Fun.

I remember going through this once before just after the upgrades were done. Thanks, Jeff.

I'm well enough alone to be out in the cold when it comes to such things! No avatar for me, I guess.
