My husband and I are moving from NJ to FL in two weeks. Does anyone have any good suggestions for keeping Christmas festive without snow? I, personally, will not miss the snow, but I know my husband will go into snow withdrawal. Any ideas and suggestions would be much appreciated.

as for no snow.... be willing to crank the ac and go thru a zillions cans of the fake stuff. sand and snow are not interchangeable!!! :D

I'm from up North I moved to Florida 25 years ago. The weather is usually in the 70's
during the Christmas season. I live in the Tampa Bay area, we get about 2 or 3 days
of frost, and that's about it. I seen some years with no frost at all.
Are you moving to South Fl, North Fl, or Central Fl?

It's kind of South Florida. I guess the top part of the south part of Florida...does that make sense?

See my post in the thread "What makes you feel Christmassy" in this board, for my rant on warm weather Christmases. I'm hoping to relocate to the Midwest by Christmas, but I'm planning to spend Christmas with my parents in Tampa this year anyway. (Sigh), at least one more warm Christmas for me...

When I was a kid I remember watching the Adam 12 show and seeing Santas running around in shorts. Seemed weird, but I guess you'll get used to it. Or, you can visit northern relatives, get your fill and drive home.

we go to FL for a few days right after Christmas to visit my hubby's family. We usually watch Christmas movies and go to Christmas parties. Of course I don't live down there so I don't know exactly how to keep it festive during the whole Christmas season.

Would be odd celebrating without cold and snow...guess you could get used to it. Maybe as I get older I could appreciate that scenerio more.

I've learned in the past 20 years to substitute rain for snow at Christmas, but sunshine and 60º would be really hard to adjust to.

Weather service is calling for mild winter, Farmers Almanac calling for snowy and cold December, warm Jan - Feb

The weatherman is about half right when predicting tomorrow's weather. We were supposed to have a heavy hurricane season, remember? I'd stick with the Farmer's Almanac.

We moved from PA to Central Fl four years ago. All our relatives ask us if Christmas is any less special...and this is what I tell them:
OF COURSE NOT. Christmas is a state of mind. It's not about location. It seems like Central Florida "celebrates" and decorates more than anywhere else I've ever visited, to be honest. We've got Christmas parades, Christmas festivals, Christmas parties, etc. I don't need to be cold to enjoy the holidays. In fact, I can actually enjoy all the outside activities without freezing my butt off. It does get chilly at night though sometimes.

I concur. It doesn't have to be cold to be Christmas. Imagine being in Australia (dead heat of Summer).
Btw, welcome to the forums!cheesy

I lived in Florida for a very short time. On Christmas morning we opened gifts as usual and then went to Daytona Beach for the rest of the day. No matter where you live though, Christmas is Christmas so do your normal stuff minus the snow and heavy coats lol.

I hate freezing my butt of at parades, so this sounds great! And I live in central NC so we rarely get snow. Probably an average of 1 time a year.
I have to say that If I was in Florida I would probably embrace it and get a tree to decorate with the adorable nautical xmas stuff! so cute

I couldn't agree more!! I have lived in the Orlando, Florida area since birth. I have never had a "White Christmas" and most of them spent wearing shorts!!
When I was a kid and got a bike for Christmas or any other "outdoorsy" kind of gift, I could jump on it and take off. No need to worry if it was too cold or snowing.
Cold doesn't equal Christmas to me. The spirit, the decorations, the crowded malls, the parades, festivals, Disney and Sea World special programs, etc. are all I need!
Christmas lives in my heart!
