We WANT the Eggnog recipe!!!

Out with it, Elfworks. What is the secret recipe for eggnog?

I used to love it as kid but it seems we can't find the good stuff anymore.

How do I make it?

i have many recipes, and am always on the lookout for a new one, but this is the standard, most used one:

beat 6 eggs with 1 1/2 cups of sugar.

add vanilla to taste (i use about a tablespoon)

(if adding liquor, add that now unless youre making for ppl who dont want liquor as well as those who do, in which case, dont add liquor now but add to individual cups before adding nog)

add 2 qts heavy cream and whip til desired thickness.

then take 1/2 quart of cream and whip to whippiness and blob on top of bowl of nog.

garnish with FRESH GRATED NUTMEG. IF YOU USE THE JARRED STUFF, I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR ABOUT IT AS IT WILL ALTER MY OPINION OF YOU IN A BAD BAD WAY.

Seriously, homemade is liek a 1000 X better and it is really not that much work. The one I made last year was really icky the day after. I am not sure why - maybe the recipie I used has a couple of kinks or something.

I'm suspicious when someone's first post is about homemade eggnog better than store bought. What relation are you to Elfworks?
