Soooo - How many Christmas books do you have? I started thinking about it a few days ago. I have pulled 50 books from around the house for myself so far (not including magazines, craft books, cooking books, old TV guides, coloring and activity books or comics). I know my daughter (Noel - age 6) has well over 50 kids Christmas books on her book shelf upstairs. I thought i might inventory them all.
How many do you have?

Well, I have booka that I consider Christmas books, but others may not. lol.
I like to read the Little House winter books at Christmas time.
Also Janice Holt Giles' Miss Willie
The Williamsburg Books by Elswyth Thane. (I know these aren't really Christmas books but they have lovely old houses and big families who love each other, etc.
The Best Loved Poems of the American People (Many Christmas poems)
Twas the Night Before Christmas
Dickens Books.
Okay, I'm tired of thinking. That's enough for now. :)
No wait, how could I forget my daughter Tracey's Christmas novella. The title is Take Me Home and it is included in two separate novella collections. One is Christmas on the Prairie and the other is Sleigh Ride.

I don't like to read so I don't have any Christmas books except for a Christmas cookie cook book and a Christmas coloring book. I like to color!

It's funny you ask...we were packing up the house this weekend and I was packing up books. I had all my Christmas books in one place. I put them all in one box (the kids ones) and all mine in another box. I'd have to say we have probably 30-35 books between all of us! And I already have my eyes on a few more titles that came out recently!
What can I say? I'm a sucker for a great christmas book! LOL!

At a quick count about 30. They're mostly history of Christmas and christmas traditions type books (cos that's my thing!).
I mostly get them from jumble sales and charity shops. My latest is one from a lady at Church who was having a clear out! It's arrangements of carols, inc ones I've never heard of!

I still have a few of my favorites, some cookbooks and a couple of craft books. I just bought one "The Twelve Blessings of Christmas" by T.J. Mills. It contains some recipes, ideas of things to do during the Christmas season and some short stories.

I probably have 100, maybe more! This isn't surprising since I have over 1200 fiction books* (not including Christmas or non-fiction) in my home library! That 100 includes the children's Christmas books as well. I keep them with mine so they don't get lost in the shuffle or ruined. My boys can be a little rough and I'm trying to teach them the importance of keeping books nice. They're learning--slowly but surely!
*I have my fiction books catalogued and I take it with me when I go to used book sales or Goodwill, etc. because if I don't, I'll buy something I already have--lol!

I just realized this year I have a fair-sized collection---not as many as the other nuts here, but a whole boxful, not counting the Christmas music books. I've been enjoying reading public-domain books online at Project Gutenberg, and recently got a real not-virtual copy of one of them---"The Christmas Angel" by Abbie Farwell Brown. I started reading Christmas literature right after Halloween so I have time to squeeze more in this year.

I got another one today!
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wayne-Manger-Gervase-Phinn/dp/014102688X/
The author is a former schools inspector in Yorkshire in the UK and he writes books about the funny things that have happened to him. These are all the Christmas ones!

I posted this elsewhere (Christmas Media, Online), but it's appropriate to this thread, so here goes again...
So, I just finished a wonderful book for kids and adults called "Little Santa"... it's a picture graphic novel, told all in pantomime. Beginning or non-readers will be able to follow along easily and parents will have a ball "reading" the book with their young ones. The art style looks like the best of French or Belgian cartooning (and may be). I highly recommend it.

I've never counted. But I do have quite a few. Daughter and I read this evening How The Grinch Stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss this evening and also A Charlie Brown Christmas by. Charles Shulz. I love Christmas books. I have a couple on the History of Christmas and also many books on Christmas Collectibles. Daughter had many pop up Christmas Books but I think I passed those ones on to my sister for her little one.cheesy

Montgomery Wards reminds me... does anyone remember when ALL the department stores used to hand out Christmas comic books to kids every year (with gift catalogs sewn into the middle)..? Does anyone have any..? I'd LOVE to see one...

I'm familiar with that Seuss book, but I never got anything from my local supermarket like that... all we ever got were free comics from some of the chain shoe stores... and they were always stupid educational things like "Jimmy and Janey Discover Electricity"... what do hydro-electric dams and high tension wires have to do with Hush Puppies and Peddle Pushers anyway..?

...it makes me wonder how many Christmas Comic Books are out there...
Quite a few, actually... in the 40's and 50's (before video games), Christmas comics were a staple of the comic publishing business... mostly giants (64-100 plus pages), selling for 25 cents, with stories, games and puzzles... there was a new Walt Disney Christmas Parade comic EVERY year up until around 1962 or so... plus, Walt Kelly's Christmas With Mother Goose, Dell Publishing's Santa Claus Adventures and Frosty The Snowman, DC Comics Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer and Christmas themed books featuring Yogi Bear, Woody Woodpecker, Little Lulu, etc...
Then, there were the department store premium giveaway comics from Woolworth's, W.T. Grant's, etc...
In recent years, with most comics being super hero comics, there are still annual "Christmas With The Super Heroes" comics from Marvel and DC...
And, of course, Cool Yule Comics is doing its part to keep this tradition alive (since 2006)...

Well that's good to know...I kinda wondered if there were many out there. My brother collects comic books, not sure if he has any Christmas ones thou. Many years ago I got him a Superman comic book that was in Black Plastic with a red S or something. I don't think he ever opened it because it was a collectible. And yes by all means lets not ever forget about Cool Yule!!!
