I just posted this on another thread.

My furbabies are very spoiled, especially when it comes to Christmas. They each have their own stocking and get presents from my mom, my inlaws, and my siblings. Sometimes and aunt or two will give them something.

http://17.photobucket.com/albums/y273/AuntieMistletoe/cat231.gif Ever since I had pets, we have included them in our Christmas celebrations. They sometimes had their own stockings and sometimes they shared them.

Last year was the first Christmas with our "son of a feral cat" and domestic mix. It was a little spooky so decorating was limited. Still, I had to spoil him with a few things. He receives gifts for Christmas in July too.

I made a mistake last year when I bought him a drinking fountain for his Birthday just after Christmas. He almost electricuted himself.

On Christmas morning, it was quite entertaining to watch him try to squeeze into the paper gift bag his presents were in. He doesn't fit anymore, but he still tries to squeeze into shoe boxes, tissue boxes and the paper gift bag looked like a kilt. What a hoot! He tore it open to get free. We would have helped, but he was actually having fun.

There's a lady down the street from us who is an old friend of the families. She has a three-legged cat, a blind cat and a seeing-eye brother for the blind cat. (Actually the seeing-eye brother ran away last spring after a showdown with the three legged cat.) Anyway, I always leave her something in her mailbox for "the boys" as she refers to them.
We also exchange gifts with the lady next door and her cat.

Once when my dog had three pups left from her litter we placed them into our Christmas stockings and a photographer from the local paper came by and snapped their photo and we placed an add in the paper. The old dial phone rang for a week with replies.

AuntieMistletoeDear

:-) It's easy. If you have an bandwidth of your own or a free image host you simply insert the IMG link into your post and voila - instant picture.

:D You can borrow O'Malley - he falls under the "free use" clause.

It looks like your cat is saying, "Whatever!" What I do to add a pic is save it to my desktop, then go to photobucket.com and upload it. Then I copy the image URL and paste it into my post. Is that about right?

elfworks

most cats would say "whatever" if they could speak english!

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/AuntieMistletoe/cat231.gif I just have to add this quote about cats - it's so true of my cat.

There are people who reshape the world by force or argument, but the cat just lies there, dozing; and the world quietly reshapes itself to suit his comfort and convenience.

last year was my first Christmas with my furry baby (Gizmo) he's half pomeranian/half papillon. We had a big family Christmas and Gizmo got gifts from three people! My cousin, myself, and my mom (his grandma got him SEVERAL things :P) He even opened them by ripping into the wrapping paper. After the whole family finished unwrapping gifts, we made such a mess that we let him play in the left over wrapping paper. Overall, he got a Christmas sweater, five new Christmas-themed toys, and a home made doggie biscuit set with directions, an ingredient list and doggie biscuit bone shaped cutters. We really love our pets in my family!

we had a bullie one year that ran to the christmas tree & picked out her present. She ripped it open & never touched any of the others

I have both cats and dogs. Since they are my family, of course they are included.
Each has a stocking, each gets toys from Santa.

I also put up a live tree every year. The dogs with me to pick it out and bring it home. They remember this tradition from year to year and I've come to call it "Merry Outside-Inside" because the outdoor tree comes inside. When the tree comes inside, and the lights go outside...the party begins!

I also have a small, artificial tree that is decorated with milk bones and cat treats on the branches (no strings, hooks or electrical cords). Once a day, the pets all get to help themselves to the treats on the tree. They like this tradition!

They also go with me when I drive around looking at Christmas lights, and late on Christmas Eve they put on their sleigh bell collars and we go for a walk through the quiet neighborhood.

So, how do you know when the dogs like a particular tree (he asks with trepidation)?

Great to finally find a good and active board for a holiday lovin’ guy like me!

My dog loves Xmas, its so much fun waking up with him. On Christmas Eve, he waits in front of the bedroom door all night long staring at it and hardly sleeps , if at all. He’s too excited. When I finally wake up and I open the door, he runs as fast as he can, straight to his stocking. He’so cute, like a little kid. But then again, I dont think, at least for me, that Xmas morning feeling ever goes away :D

the cat gets turkey

MarthaK

dvdguy,
That reminds me of a Christmas a number of years ago when I was still living with my folks. My cat and my Mom's cat didn't get along, they were always on edge around each other and had to be separated most of the time.

However, one Thanksgiving, they put all animosity aside to guard the turkey in the oven. We made sure they had their fill of turkey scraps and that evening we found the two of them curled up together on the couch both of them snoring and lightly moaning.

It was the first and last time. A month later at Christmas they both got all the turkey they wanted, only they didn't nearly as much. Then they went to their resepctive rooms to sleep it off.

I'm glad we got a snapshot of that one, wish we could have had a video with sound, though!

My dad doesn't like cats...he works for the city power dept. and installs electrical stuff on homes. Over 20+ years he says he has had more issues with cats than dogs by far. He's had to kick a few that have come at him. He don't come visiting too much as I have 5 cats .

we don't have any pets but my parents always get their dog a giant bone wrapped in a giant red bow. They also have a set of "reindeer antlers" they let him wear while they are opening gifts. Their cat usually gets new feeding bowls and a cat nip toy.

OH yes. My 2 cats are my babies. THey always get goodies for christmas. THey even have their own stockings. They get catnip and yummies. THey also get new brushes every christmas. THis year they are getting a littermaid pottybox. And Moo and Thumper have both been hinting about wanting an outside play yard. Petsmart has these HUGE fully enclosed, metal framed play yards for insdie cats. I really hate them cooped up on nice days when we are outside working in the yard. So they are getting their play yard for christmas.

Mollie has already gotten one Christmas "baby", a stuffed puppy that the center pulls out long...kinda like a tug a war toy. Its all dressed in Christmas attire.

We will probably dress Mollie up in her Christmas finest and take her back to Petsmart before Christmas to let her pick some stuff out.

All of my pets are included in Christas. Not only do they have a stocking but they get spoiled fropm my family members too. They also seem to figure out how to sneak out of the house every year and go shopping themselves for me, my husband and my daughter. WE have 2 cats and a new addition, our bunny. This will be his first Christmas!!!

Last year was my cat's first Christmas...it was also her three babies first Christmas...trust me we didn't plan THEM lol
I like to include my Cat and Dog in Christmas but the Dog just want's a pat & the Cat is more interested in food, I think they appreciate it though, but I think that I should just say this:
Thousands of years ago cats were worshipped as gods, some cats have never forgotten this.

I think they'll know if you aren't including them
LOL
