darlin, i am a native texan. chili is just like mother's milk to me! only reason my tummy would rumble is if there werent enuf onion or garlic. but since i made the chili and subsequently assembled the dogs, i know there is enuf!!

He makes good chili. It's probably not Texas Chili, but for NJ it's darn good. Granted the kitchen looks like a bomb hit it when he's done, but at least it's a tasty bomb.

Lunch? Did you guys talk about lunch while I was working? I hate it when work interferes with my day. I even skipped lunch today, so chili sounds especially good. My mother always cooked her chili with beans. Her goulash was worse. Looked like roadkill. But, for a Yankee, she made some of the tastiest ribs I have ever had and I lived in Memphis for a looong time, eating ribs every chance I could get. Griddleys, Willinghams, Rendezvous, Corky's...

I envy people who take the time to buy just the right ingredients to make just the right thing and then make it just right and actually enjoy it when it's done. I stop at the gas station and pick up a cup of whatever and realize 20 minutes later it's gone. While I like eating, I don't ever crave anything. The wife hates that because I never tell her what I want. I can't even remember saying, "Mmmmm!" I like eggnog and will pad the pockets of Turner Dairy stockholders again this year, but I don't really take the time to enjoy it. My wife is a shrink. I'll let her figure it out.

well, for some people, stuff like that is important. i happen to be one of em. i figure life is too short to not carpe diem, so to speak.

i diet most of the time so it is important to me that when i splurge, i want to make it worthwhile!!
