i, personally, mix it up when it comes to wrapping...i use gift bags and wrapping paper...depending upon the supply. i try to make my wrapping as neat as possible, but since my sister is usually too lazy to wrap the gifts she's giving to everyone else, i get tired/bored with wrapping around gift number 50...

The lazy man in me likes the bags, but the traditionalist likes the paper, with ribbons and bows. Bags are reusable; paper becomes unrecognizable.

bags if I have to do it, paper if the wife is doing it. Just teasing

sheepsnot
09-02-2006, 02:06 PM
You can only use the teasing card once a day, and even then it has its limits. Try saying, "Yes, that dress makes you look just bovine. Just teasing!" The card doesn't have unlimited power I have found. 8)

yes wife & cow in the same sentence not a good idea

Have the store do it when possible, otherwise I struggle thru it. Not my favorite part of the holiday for sure. My better half makes fancy ribbons and bows and such, makes it harder to snoop.

I am one of those people that takes as much pride in the wrapping of the gift as the gift itself. I wrap all of our gifts as nicely as I can and then add ribbon and a nice bow. Then if it doesn't look right I'll unwrap it and redo it.

I try to find paper that is of a theme that the little ones like, for instance, Spiderman, strawberry shortcake and etc.

I also use the gift bags for special items.

I wrap gifts as soon as I buy them, then I keep a master list.

I am very terrible at wrapping. They never turn out like pics in a magazine. There is a 5 ft tall art set hidden under the house that I have to wrap. That would like take a whole roll of wrapping paper. Then it would look like I wrapped it with my feet instead of my hands.
I saw a pic in a magazine once where someone used newspaper to wrap all their gifts and they cut fruit in 1/2 and painted them to use as stamps and let their kids stamp the paper and then used raffia to tie them with and it looked cute with all the matching presents under the tree.

This year I think I will use gift boxes. They have some plain ones at Hobby Lobby and decorate them with colored felts, ribbons, buttons, etc.

Hahaha...people often accuse me of having OCD.

I am with you on that! Mine have to be perfect. Why? I have no clue since they are gonna get ripped up anyway. My mom even gets me to wrap hers each year because she can't stand to do it. I really like to wrap, another thing that gets me in the spirit.

I gotta wonder how they can make a pill to stop folks from making sure they take the same number of steps with each foot? Is it marijuana based? Then you just don't care. I think perfectionism is healthy to a point. If you are never satisfied and spend $40 to wrap one gift just right, you need that pill.

This don't describe me. I'm not a great wrapper and I don't worry about it, do like to hand make bows though.

it actually depends on the gift... I get boxes, bags and paper to do my wrapping. If the gift is funny shaped and won't go into a box very well then i use a bag, but mostly paper wrapping. the smaller stuff that i dont like to wrap goes into small bags which get attached to larger gifts. stuff like batteries or goody gifts go in stockings along with the persons larger gifts.

I wrap all the store bought gifts.

The kids gifts from Santa get wrapped in a Santa themed wrapping paper. Each child has a different pattern.

I have festive bags that I use for my baked goodies.

I LOVE wrapping gifts, and wrap every little thing with care! All the gifts from me are in a few different papers, with matching bows and ribbons... I usually make some decorative gift tags to go on them too! There's a thread here http://www.mymerrychristmas.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3314 of last years gift tags...
Santa seems to wrap his gifts all in the same paper... with matching bows and ribbon of course... cheesy

I have my wife wrap everything because when I attempt to wrap a present it ends up looking like the tape and the wrapping paper got into a fight and nobody won. I only wrap her present's because she doesn't mind, she enjoys the laugh.

My DH thinks I'm slightly nuts because I'm a fanatic about wrapping paper. I have to have "pretty" wrapping paper and I have to have choices with contrasting (but complementing) colors. I can't have all the gifts under our tree wrapped in the same paper.

I will use a bag if the gift is too oddly shaped to be easily wrapped but considering the fact that I've managed to successful master wrapping footballs, it has to be a really odd shaped gift to qualify for a bag!

Dawnfletch
08-14-2007, 07:56 AM
For my side & friends i wrap them up in red paper with gold ribbon & bows.
For DH side i just wrap them up in any old paper, see they dont bother with all the fuss, they dont even put a gift tag on them, they never say thanks.
From his sisters we get the same every year smellies!
I know its still a gift but all the fun is out of it with them, the nieces sit there with faces long as a dont know what, they never thank people then they sit eating chocolate all day.
My son is not going to be like them.

I like to dress the gift to the person. Some get gifts wrapped in brown craft paper, with homespun plaid ribbon and an oranaments attached, others get fancy foil paper with glittery, wired ribbon bows. Those are the "big" presents...the special ones.

But, by the week before Christmas the "little extras" usually get wrapped in paper with cartoon Santas and snowmen and a stick-on bow from the grocery store.

I chose pretty wrapping paper. Most of ours are wrapped unless they are hard to wrap (no box, odd shape)...I am not going to even try wrapping a football...lol..those go in a bag.

Presents from Sanat (main gifts) are not wrapped.

We place wrapped presents from each other under the tree before the 24th and Santa adds his on Christmas eve. I bought silver engraveable tags this year, that say From Santa that will go around that gift every year....my dd would probably recognize my hand writing!

I picked bags, b/c crappy wasn't a choice. If I have to wrap it goes in a bag. I usually make my hubby do it if it needs to be nice. That is one thing about the holidays I just have not mastered. I would like it if I was better at it.

I am the primary wrapper in my family (have been since i was about 10!) and unless they're for me or from santa, I wrapped them! I love wrapping and unless they're funky shaped i use wrapping paper. If they're funky, i'll either use a bag or put them in a box and wrap that. I like using wrapping paper with homemade gift tags and i like saving the colored comics in the newspaper in december and using that, because they're christmas themed and they're fun! (plus something to read while you're waiting for others to open their gift!)

I have a wrapping paper habit - love wrapping gifts.

I pick out a pattern for each of the boys (one red base, one green base, one blue base), makes it easier to know which is which.

I also pick out coordinating patterns for each family I wrap for.

I do sometimes use bags if it is a really odd shapped item or would not fit well into a box (like last years football for my nephew!)
