one ornament or bit of decor or just a little something, that when you put in its proper place, ilife is good? your favorite thing is......?

mine is a wreath i made about a dozen years ago. it is all gold glass ornaments. about 2" each. i spent a whole summer making that and i get raves on it, requests to make it for others and it just makes me happy. it sparkles in the candlelight and just gets me in the mood!

next fave (and this is a close call) is my candle collection. i have over 200 xmas candles and every last one of em goes out and gets lit at some point!

ahhhhhhhhhhh life is good!

In our family it was always the nativity scene. We would set it up just so. Mom and Dad would hide baby Jesus...because Santa always put him in his crib after he put out our presents and ate his cookies. Right before bedtime, all 4 of us kids would kneel before the Nativity and say our Christmas prayers. The next day we would be all excited because baby Jesus was there and it was his birthday.

I suppose it would be the Christmas village. I wish they would spring into life and I could join them in their simple world. Worst decoration I ever bought was a series of four little houses with Disney characters in them. When you turned it on they would sing various Christmas songs; not the words, mind you, but just the tunes. Pluto would bark his note and Donald would quack his, etc. It got old in less than five minutes, but was beautiful to look at. I gave it to friends.

my favorite ornament is one I made twelve years ago when I was in fifth grade. It's a snowflake I stitched and glued silver sequins to, my mom still displays it every Christmas!

I collect ornaments when I travel and many have been given to me over the years by friends. That makes it hard to choose since all of them remind me of old friends and events.

I guess my favorite would be the two painted plaster ornaments I made in the 5th grade. One is a star painted in bright psychodelic colors (it was the 60's, folks) the other is a lamb with red glitter spots.

Both of these were hidden in total embarrassment during my teenage years and early 20's, but have returned to the display. I need the laugh every year!

Or, maybe it's the Hallmark Snoopy on his doghouse from the early 70's. It's one of the old china ones (before everthing was made in plastic) and has to go on a pretty sturdy branch.

No, maybe it's the ratty blue satin-wrapped ball that my dear old, beloved dog always knocked off the tree and batted around the house. He's been gone for more than 10 years, but his ornament remains.

OK, I can't choose...
