We're going to start looking for lights when we get down to Florida. We're going to need a tree too, so we'll probably do that down there. I don't know how available real trees are down there (HolyNight7 - any info on that?). I can't wait to be able to decorate a whole house!!!

I have not pulled anything out yet...but I am surely working on a game plan....because I moved to a place that actually has a big yard and a covered porch.....and the inside is huge as well. So I do believe I can turn this place into a winter wonderland.....

Stopped at K-Mart today and they were putting out the Halloween stuff, right on time. Two months to the day early. I don't really mind because I shop online for all the holiday stuff year round anyhow.

Sorry didn't see this post right away. I almost was tempted to buy a real tree down here a couple of years ago. I'm not real tree knowledgeable. Walmart and Home Depot will sell them but not until after Thanksgiving. It's my understanding though that the best time to get them is later in December when it's been colder. They last longer.

My screened porch is full of new items I've picked up over the summer. Most are blow molds that I have purchased on eBay as well as wireframes that I ordered this spring and have been putting lights on.
My small (18 inch high and shorter) Santa blowmold collection was dragged out 3 weeks ago so I could take pictures of them to share with other blowmold nuts.
I have been playing Christmas music and watching DVDs of Christmas lights for a good month now....
You could say that it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! :merry:
.....Jeff Womack, a newbie elf? Wonder of wonders! Great to see a familiar "face," LOL!

WOW. I'm sure you all will know a blowmold when you see one, you just don't relate the name to the item.
They are the blown plastic outdoor light decorations.
I have choir people, a collection of both indoor and outdoor Santas, snowmen, etc.
Here is the link to my lights for 2005 from the MyHolidayDisplays.com website. http://www.myholidaydisplays.com/vb/photos/showgallery.php?cat=537

The best real trees can be found at your local farmers market if you have one. Surprisingly enough, quality trees can also be found at those individual sellers that randomly set up on the side of the road. A lot of them get their trees fresh from Christmas tree farms. Here, we have actual Christmas tree farms that allow you to pick and cut your own tree, participate in caroling, roast marshmellows, go on hayrides, and drink free hot cocoa and cider.

We don't have a Hobby Lobby here. I do need more ornaments for my tree. I did do some looking on line but haven't found anything interesting yet.

I need more trees for my ornaments! That's what happens when you buy a new one every year, pick them up every place you travel, buy one for every family milestone, and grab every older glass ornament you run across in antique stores and flee markets.
I agree with ReineV....tree farms and the local stands are the best for fresh and FUN! Since I put up a real tree every year the day after Thanksgiving, load it with the really hot C-7 bulbs and bubble lights, place it under the heating vent near the fireplace and never water it....(just kidding here)...if I don't buy a fresh one, that puppy's ready to blow by New Years!
There are other surprises, too. One year I had a nest of praying mantises hatch on Christmas morning.

What did you do with the newly born bugs? Aren't they a protected spieces? You get fined for killing them.
