Okay - as many of you know - I am 70s and 80s Nut!
I collect everything i can from the 50s to the 80s - but prime focus is on 70s and 80s.
I am a nostalgia nut... Down to the Smiley Face Cookie Jar and my Mushroom Mugs!
I love it all.

So!

Whats your decade of love?
If you could be stuck in JUST one.... which would it be?

I love the 70's and 80's. But, I voted for the 50's because I always wanted to live in that time. I thought it just seemed so neat with the malt shops and everything seemed so new and exciting. Stuff happens now and while it might be new and amazing what they can come up with as far as technology goes it never seems to be a big shock. It's like they can do anything now and I think that in the 50's if you said that we'd be using a phone that could fit into our pockets people would think you were crazy! I loved the poodle skirts, sock hops, the music, men were gentlemen and it just seemed so fun! I could be way off track on my thinking and someone who lived in the 50's may have a different, more accurate view of it but, that's my take on it and I'd choose to go back to the 50's!

I voted for the 60s....a lot of stuff going on....from the hippies from Kennedy...the landing on the moon....in Germany people started to earn more and be able to live nice after the war finally....I just like how buzzing it must have been....Woodstock comes to mind....without the drugs....:D....I love the 60s....the music....Motown Soul....Janis Joplin....Bob Dylan....Beatles...Stones....

from my personal ways...it would be the 80s....they were my first 9 yeras on this place we called earth...and life was perfect back then....no divorced parents....nice kid´s programms....I started to get into sports....Janet Jackson broke thru in 86...Michael and Madonna were huge....Breakdance was invented and became big.....as a girl....Flashdance and Dirty Dancing come to mind as well...I loved the 80s....life was still easy back then....

but I voted for the 60s now...cos it seems so interessting....oh yeah....and I love 60´s Impalas!!!

I have to go with the 70s, I was a teenager and had a silver Chevy with a moonroof and oh....the music was sooo good!! Three of us girls would get into my car on the weekends and we would drive 50 miles to go to a different restaurant or theatre, all the while blasting Lynard Skynard or ACDC or Pat Benatar in the cassette player! It's amazing how little sleep we got! The 80s were awesome too, but for me the 70s will never die.

I was watching a bit of 'I Love The 70s Volume 2 - I Love 1977' on VH1 Classic last night and got to see segments on 'Quincy M.E.' (btw Quincy owns Gil Grissom), Jokers Wild, Name That Tune, Nancy Drew Mysteries... real good stuff.

Gotta put in a plug for the 50's here! The music totally kicked butt... I wasn't born until '57, so there are a great many comics from the Fifties I've never read... plus, Department Stores gave out free Christmas comics every year as premiums... and finally...

THIS premiered in 1957, as well...

80's for me, its when I grew up.

I can remember 80's TV in England after Saturday Afternoon's sport, there were come classic 80's shows that were good to watch.

Airwolf, The A Team, Duke of Hazzard, Knight Rider, CHiPs, The Fall Guy.

Music I was into mostly the Hair Rock n Roll Bands, still am, Bon Jovi, Posion, Twisted Sister, Motley Crue, Van Halen.

And one of my favourite 80's movies of all time Back to Future, after I saw this I always wanted to goto America.

I have to agree... the 70's music was better than the 80's (for me)...

All you folks interested in those 80's cartoons you keep mentioning might want to check out this site: http://www.80scartoons.net/

I was in my 20's, out of college and working for most of the 80's, so the only cartoons I remember fondly from the (late) 80's was The Simpsons and that revived Mighty Mouse show.

OH my! Never say goodbye was always the last song played at the dances I used to go to every Friday night! That was so funny. Everyone would rush to the gym floor for one last slow dance before our parents would pick us up and they would always start turning the lights on before the song was over and all of the people dancing would be exposed. And sometimes that wasn't such a good thing to see! Friday night dances at B.C.A.C. (that was the name of the athletic center that held the dances). I used to scrape together $3 every Fri. so that I could go. Quite a gathering of kids too. 6th grade to 12th graders were there. It actually was one of those dances that parents wouldn't let their kids attend now because of the older kids being there. But, everyone went and it was so much fun.

Oh my goodness. I forgot about the skate nights! We used to go to skate night for a few hours and then it would be a dance. Our parents would drop us off at like 7 and then around 9 we would change into our shoes and the skate night would turn into a dance night that would go until midnight. I used to take skate lessons at the Roll R Skate! My favorite things to do were get a slushie, eat cotton candy and pin my coat check tag on my belt loop of my pants! I always thought that was cool. One time I was there with my friends and it was a couples skate so my friend Traci and I were skating together. We passed this couple who was skating with their little boy and they yelled for us and asked us if we'd be willing to skate with their son so that they could have 1 skate together. We just giggled and skated off. We were like, 8 years old. Well, at the end of the day everyone was getting out of their skates and heading to the coat check. I looked over there and there was a huge crowd gathered in front of the check counter. I didn't know what was going on. My friend's brother came out of the crowd and said Robin Cole was signing autographs over there and asked if we wanted one. I said yes because I figured if he's signing he must be of some importance. I had no idea who Robin Cole was. He was a Pittsburgh Steelers player! Well when the crowd parted and I saw who it was I about died! It was the same guy who asked me to skate with his little boy and I said no! And now I'm getting his autograph. Too funny! I used to go there and wear my leg warmers down over my skates and have my littlea Jordache purse draped across my body. I miss those days.

The choice was a hard one for me--50s or 60s. I chose the 60s because those were my high school and college years at East Caroline University (it went from East Carolina Teachers College to ECU in 1969, my senior year there). Trips to the beach on weekends, concerts during the summer with names like Four Seasons, The Lettermen, Ray Charles, Strawberry Alarm Clock, Bobby Vinton, and Classics IV, these were definitely "Moments to Remember" (a nostalgic song from 1955 by the Four Lads). I liked the Beatles okay, but preferred the other lesser-known British Invasion singers--Ferry Cross the Mersey (not sure of the spelling), by Jerry and the Pacemakers was a fav as was Twiggy featured in Seventeen Magazine, Mary Qant, and all the "groovy" makeup of the 60s. From the 50s I loved Howdy Doody, The Mickey Mouse Club, Superman, Lone Ranger, Red Skelton, and all those wholesome-type shows. I do remember all the things mentioned about the 70s and 80s because my kids were being raised during those times. I loved hearing the song posted by Santa's Helper. I, too, wanted to know what was inside Stretch Armstrong and Stretch Monster. I found our when my son Kane opened one up! Thanks for the memories!!!

For me it would be the late 50's and early 60's. Our winters were very snowy with lots of sleigh riding after school. The fun was only slightly marred by concerns over fallout from atmospheric testing of nuclear weapons as we were told not to eat even the white snow. Also, I think the toys and TV shows were much better than they are today. They focused on adventure and imagination and not on the so-called reality of today.

I thought of this song and it was so appropriate for this thread so take a listen and watch the video. I think it will bring a smile to at least a few faces! Enjoy!

I was wondering .....after a short seventies revival in 93 (I remember that from the odler ones in school...and some music videos....I was just 12) bell bottomsy came back full force in Germany by end of 96 or beginning of97......they were not the huuuuuuuuuge ones....but they still looked fresh....I would either wear those....or my baggy pants...:D....so I mixed them 60/70s with the 90s...:D

"Groovy" is a '60s word. I don't think anyone used it un-ironically after about 1971. "Far out" is more '70s.

Yep, it is Ashton. She is pure evil.

Elkanah Bent.....great performance by Philip Casnoff! I hate him so much, I started to like the character. "They stole my military career!" cheesy

You are right about that....When I saw it the first time....I was about 10....and I understood immediately that she is on the right side....I didn´t understand why her family gave her such a hard time...:)

oh I hate this guy so much......the actor is doing a great job.....playing someone that evil must be quite a challenge.....but that actor surely has the mischivous smile....sorry...I spelled it wrong....

Having lived through, and remembering well, the '80s and '90s, I don't feel any particular nostalgia for those decades. I chose the '50s because it was a decade I didn't live through, so it would be much more interesting. Not the ersatz '50s of Grease, Happy Days and Back to the Future, but the real thing.

Even better, I'd like to have lived in the 1920s and the 1940s (see how easy it is to skip the Great Depression?). Growing up, I had this thing about the '20s. I read the novels The Great Gatsby and Babbit, watched as many silent movies as I could (especially Laurel & Hardy), enjoyed paging through issues of Liberty and Saturday Evening Post at the library, and got a kick listening to old 78 records on a friend's basement Victrola.

My brother still has my mom's old stereo at his house. It was one of those long wooden stereo cases that had the lids that lifted up on each side. One side had a radio and 8-track player, in the middle was a compartment that you could slide your albums into and on the other side it had a record player. I know he still has all of the albums in it and the 8-tracks. I used to listen to my mom's Barry Manilow and Bette Midler 8-tracks and my brother used to listen to my mom's Steve Martin records, the one with him on the cover with the bunny ears. We still have the John Denver and the Muppets album in there too as well as Charlie Brown Christmas album!!

My friend used to have a record player that had flashing lights on the front of it and I'd bring my records down to her house and we'd set it up in the basement and roller skate! The flashing lights helped add to the experience!

I would have loved to see the 60's, but not live there. I'd love to go bak to the 80's, since I was so young then. I would love to be in college during the 80s!

One thing I have noticed no one has voted the 90's :-? for all the technology that became available/more accessible no one has voted for it.

I have to say.....I love the 90s....it was the time of my youth...first kiss and everything....hang out with my best friend...play hockey, tennis...party....get drunk for the first time....:D.....I just didn´t vote for it...because somehow the 90s have been sad for me too.....I grew and found out life ain´t as great as seemed in the 80s....I found out my parents were fighting verbally all the time...even tho it was hidden....and when my pops was durnk...which was all the time...well...it wsa not so nice...they got divorced then...and since then...life got better.......so that is the only reason i have not voted for the 90s
