Okay folks.... MAJOR tough one here!
I have a list of toys from the decades of 1900s to 1990s....
Top Christmas toys!

Now - here is the clinker!

What is the MOST INVENTIVE decade that changed the face of toys for kids around the world the most!

NOT - your favorites.... So for me - i would have 70s and 80s toys....as favs...but my choice for best decade if invention ... may be totally different.

to me it´s the 80s.....even tho video games were invented in the 70s....the big developpment came in the 80s....and I love those games....do I think it´s best of toys for kids....not really...but the impact the 80s made on that business is huge

I voted for the 80's mostly because I lived it and remember the toys the best. I kind of feel the same way that Track does. But, I could have gone for the 1910 category too. My brother and I had all of those toys as Christmas gifts in the 70's. Raggedy Ann and Andy were my first ever Christmas gifts! I was 2 weeks old when I got them in 1974! But, my vote was for the 80's.cheesy

Not hard at all...

I voted for 1930-1939... most of the others (except for possibly Crayola crayons) are fad toys or decade specific items that wouldn't necessarily appeal to kids from other times (if a kid from the 1930's could even grasp the concept of Nintendo)... but Scrabble and Monopoly are timeless icons... as much beloved today as when they were first introduced.

There have been video games around since the 1970s. But I voted for the 1990s because that is when video games made the quality leap to photorealism, and every kid demanded a video game at home. No household was complete without one.

Personally, they bore me. I grew up playing outside. Give me a bicycle, two legs, and a summer day.

40s, just because of lego....

This has been very hard there is a case I would guess for every decade bar the 20's.

So after much thinking I have opted for the 50's as this was the decade by favourite ever toy first surfaced Scalextric (Slot Car Racing)

I got this present a couple of times as a kid as loved it, and as surprise my now wife brought me another 1 back in 2001 and has only been played once.

I think this year my oldest who is 3 will be able to join her dad for a game soon.

My 2nd choice was the 40's with lego another favourite of mine growing up.

Ah, but the poll is about the most inventive decade, "NOT - your favorites".

Yes, but trains have evolved and changed to reflect the times (HO guage, etc.) and teddy bears now have voice boxes and there's that satanic Teddy Ruxpin...

Scrabble and Monopoly have pretty much remained pristine... so have Crayolas, so I'll give you that one...

And, yes, I know there are video versions of both games, but they haven't replaced the original board games...

As for "favorites", which decade saw the creation of the Flexible Flyer sled (the all wooden one with the red runners)..?

I voted for the 60s because of the Etch a Sketch. It wasn't a video game, but you could use the little dials to control the lines for a drawing which is kind of similar to using buttons to control a video game.

I chose the 20's because of Plastics. Since that time, how great of an impact has plastic been in revolutionizing the whole industry?

I voted for 1930-1939 because those games pulled families together. Scrabble and Monopoly pulled the families together more so than the other time frames. That is my choice.
