Thought I would start a series of threads on classic movies, beginning with:
Gone with the Wind
Have you seen it?
Does it rank in your all-time favorites? or is the worst movie you've ever seen?
Trivia, thoughts, etc....let'em fly.....

I've watched it many, many times. I've read the book many, many times. As a little girl I really wanted to be a "southern belle"! (a strong, independent one)

A classic film. A real tearjerker, but in a nice way.

Favorite movie. I've seen it at least a dozen times, and have read four books about its making.

I've seen it many times & read the short stories. Some of them aren't even Christmas releated, but were written into the screenplay.

I did watch it enough to notice that one of Scarlett's suitors was George Reeves... TV's Superman.

Yep, he was super red-headed wasn't he. A long way from the black Superman hair.

Although it isn't among my all time favorites, I have seen it several times and read the book at least twice. Great casting!

I have never been able to sit all the way through it at one time. I do think it is good movie, but too long and drawn out. I also didn't like the way it ended, but I like happy endings.

I loved the book, read it first. Then in the late 1960's I seen the movie on the big screen at a theater in Virginia. It was awesome to see it in a movie theater.
I love the story for Margaret Mitchell manage to weave so much into the storyline.
History (my favorite period of history); the love a woman has for a man, the love a man has for a woman, true christian character protrayed in Melanie, Scarlett's sister-in-law and best friend though Scarlett could never see what a friend she was because of her own selfish ambitions. And how deeply Rhett loved Scarlett but because of her own selfishness and pride she could not receive his love.
The cast choices were perfect and who wouldn't love Mammy, that dear grand lady who loved her employers and yet loved Scarlett enough to correct her and had wisdom to know the hearts of Scarlett and Rhett's and tell them what she seen and did not like about them.
It showed the foolishness of the era and rules of society that when times got hard, people had to learn what was really important.
She wrote about the fabric of people and how no matter what happens, people can and do come above it only to become better for it.
