I really liked bottle caps, the wax juice bottles and strawberry danish ribbons. I remember getting these at the candy stand at my brothers little league games. Along with chick-o- sticks and sixlets. =)

I liked the Dots, I remember getting a box of Dots at the theater when I went on Saturday afternoon. Red was my favorite.
I remember the candy necklaces that we wore around our necks, which disgusted adults because little kids get dirty, their necks get dirty in the summer months playing outside and of course the candy necklaces got dirty.

I was always a fan of Bun bars, especially the maple but the vanilla rocked, too...
Locally made favorite, the Clark Bar...
Bonomo Turkish Taffy (chocolate, vanilla or strawberry... the banana wasn't that good)...
And those little flying saucers with beads in them... they weren't all that good but, not being Catholic, it was the closest to communion wafers this little Protestant boy ever got... cheesy

Clark bar is my #1 favorite! It was made here in Pittsburgh like George said. I always liked those button candies that came on the strips of paper. When you peeled the candy off of the paper it always had some paper stuck to the back of it. I liked Milk Duds, butter mints and the powder saucer lollipops that came on those hollow sticks. I used to like the candy cigarettes but, now those things are gross. Of course I'm always a fan of Sarris candy made in Canonsburg, Pa. as well.

I liked Sugar Daddies but, no to the black cow and to cow tails. I thought that they sounded gross.

Bazooka bubble gum. No other brand of bubble gum could successfully imitate its flavor or its texture. I would save the "Bazooka Joe" comics from inside the wrapper and redeem them for the trinkets advertised thereupon, like a cheap camera.
Was amused a while ago when I saw among a display of Passover food items in a supermarket a box of Bazooka gum with Hebrew lettering. Tasty, chewy, and kosher!

Ha! Yeah, the ingredients sound good but, that mouthwatering description that was given to them isn't working for me. My husband's fire dept. always gives out candy bags at Christmas time for the kids and I don't know who goes out and buys the candy for the bags but, they have terrible taste. Someone always buys cow tails! I told him to get something else besides that because to me it's just not a treat for Christmas!!! Or anytime for that matter. I don't like them. Regular chocolate, gum, candy canes, that would all be fine but, cow tails? Really? Yuck!!

Neat thing is there are a few sites like Hometown Favorites - where you can still get them all online!
=)
We put an order in twice a year for our goodies!

Yep I liked pop rocks too and still do. Gosh I totally forgot about the Big League Chewing gum...that stuff rocked! Do you all remember Grouchy Garbage Candy? It was hard like candy shapped like fish bones etc in a plastic trash can. I had forgotten all about these.

Caramel Creams and those long rolls of paper (like cash register tape) with the rows of candy dots on them. You ate half the paper getting at the candy, but they were worth it.

I have always loved those strawberry candies that are hard on the outside and soft inside, I still get them when I can find them. But they are hard to find these days.

This is an old thread, but I just found it and already I'm thinking of all my favs. We had a candy store about a half mile from our house that we would walk to, and with our fifty cents allowance we would be able to get quite a bit. And this was only in the seventies. But my favs were the Marathon Bar ("lasts a long long time"), the Bubble Burger and Martian Men, which were basically swedish fish. That store rocked and I could probably go on for an hour thinking of all those awesome treats, not to mention the "glass" bottles of pop! Good days.....

I remember those glass bottles of pop!!
After church on Sundays, my oldest sister and I would stop at a little food store and she would buy Diet Dr. Pepper. It was in a glass bottle with blue background with Diet Dr Pepper written on it.
I liked Sweet Tarts when they came in the gold and white package.
I love love love Bottle Caps and Laffy Taffy. Is Laffy Taffy retro? I simply can't remember.
Chick o Sticks! I hadn't seen those in YEARS until we were traveling a few weeks ago, stopped at a convenience store and there they were!! I had to buy a handfull of them!! hahaha
