I want to try a new game. I have to credit Rodmonster for this idea. He posted something about the 1970's and I want to try a different twist on it. I hope its popular with all of you.
I call it You grew up or remember the 1980's if. You can name anything that was associated with the decade of the 80's.
You mention something and the next person will as well. I will start it off.
You grew up or remember the 1980's if.....you stood in line for hours just to get your hands on a Cabbage Patch Kid.

When this commercial was running I lived across the street from this old lady and she looked like the lady in the commercial. So at the senior citizen center they staged a commercial with her and took pictures of her with a little burger patty and they had 2 other ladies standing with her looking at it. She looked just like her it was pretty funny! Ok, sorry for the distraction, now back to the memories!

I remember going to see Temple of Doom at a matinee during the week at the Fulton Theatre here in downtown Pittsburgh... it was a hot summer day and EVERYONE had their air conditioning on... and somehow, that caused the power grid to go out and Pittsburgh was without electricity for several hours... I only got to see about 2/3's of the movie... they refunded our money but I never did see how it ended until about a year later when I caught it on HBO... Temple has since always been my LEAST favorite Indy movie.

the artifical heart.
On December 2, 1982, Dr. William DeVries implanted an artificial heart into retired dentist Dr. Barney Bailey Clark (b. 21 January 1921), who survived 112 days with the device, dying on 23 March 1983. Bill Schroeder became the second recipient, and lived for a record 620 days.
The heart used in these operations was a Jarvik heart, a design created by Dr. Robert Jarvik. As a student at the University of Utah, Dr. Robert Jarvik combined several modifications: an ovoid shape to fit inside the human chest, a more blood-compatible polyurethane developed by biomedical engineer Dr. Donald Lyman, and a fabrication method by Kwan-Gett that made the inside of the ventricles smooth and seamless to reduce dangerous stroke-causing blood clots.
