Yes!
I just now finished putting together my planner for Christmas 2009.

There are sections for:
Family & friends gifts
Christmas cards
Decorations
Books and games
Gifts to make (actually, stuff I collected with which to make gifts)

This started with me writing down all the Christmas stuff I have already picked up and put away in boxes. Not remembering what was all there, I needed to get it listed. Now I feel a lot more organized and know what I still need to get.
I think I will also add a Christmas food and treats section.

I have been working on my Christmas notebook off/on since January. Towards the end of Sept or beginning of Oct we will start testing our lights and replace any broken bulbs. We picked up some new outside decorations (light up snowmen) at a yard sale recently but some of the bulbs are broken. I may start on them sooner if I get the chance.

In a couple of weeks I will do a test batch on some new recipes I came across to see if I will use them for the holidays.

In the next few weeks I hope to have my menu done for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years. That way I can create my shopping list and start picking up the non-perishables when they go on sale.

Menu! I forgot the menu! Thanks for the reminder. I will now have to sit down and with the help of my family decide what should be on that for Christmas.
Also should plan out what treats I want to make. this year I want to attempt to make my own Christmas cake....the old fashioned kind with lots of fruit & nuts, soaked in rum and loaded with flavour. Anyone got a good recipe?

You could try to make a German Christstollen....I think it has raisins, nuts and such....

It is such a relief to know that I am not alone with planning months before hand!

There is plenty to do in between Christmas's but it is still my favorite time.

I started planning out the menus and food gifts.
I started the gift list and did some shopping.
I started some crafts and even finished some but as always, there is more I want to do.

Cheers!
Liza

Maybe I will try this out this year..How has it worked for everyone else? I do usually make a menu for Thanksgiving ahead of time.
