We had these snow flurry showers yesterday. It snowed for a few minutes here and there then quit.

I was so excited to see snow.

That's about all we've had up here so far, so don't feel too bad. I've been waking up to a ton of frost lately, but no flakes.

GingerMel
11-21-2006, 08:19 AM
We had a BUNCH of frost this morning.

We usually get so little snow that I like to imagine that the frost itself is snow. It makes the ground crunchy and white, so hey...snow to me. hah hah.

LOL!! I do the same thing! I was going over the viaduct this morning and was looking over the town and thought how pretty it looked all covered in white. Of course it was only frost but ya can't blame a girl for wishful thinking!!

It is slowly warming up here this week, high 69 on Turkey Day (so much for that 57 average high you found out about for me Sheep). I guess it is expected to stay warm here for awhile...gonna be interesting picking out the tree this weekend while sweating.

yea, it's gonna be in the mid-to-low 60's here on Thanksgiving here....that's too HOT:P yesterday the high barely got out of the 40's. today the high is supposed to be 52

Christy Carol

High 60's to low 70's here until next Friday and then the expected high is 50 with rain. This back and forth business is keeping us all sick.

silver bells
11-24-2006, 10:46 PM
It's been in the 60's the last couple of days but the freezing cold is headed our way for next week. I'm glad that I will be working and sleeping on Thursday when our high is supposed to be in the upper 20's!! :o

sheepsnot
11-26-2006, 03:41 PM
Have you seen the cold snap coming our way? It is supposed to be in the high 60s or low 70s through Wednesday and then start dropping. Friday's high is 34º. Pretty sweet for Nashville!

Christy Carol
11-26-2006, 03:57 PM
Yeah I have been watching that. I am just hoping we dont have another round of storms with this since it is such a massive cold front moving into this hot air mass.

Today has been crazy....mid to uppers 70's here. Trying to decorate has been miserable because of all the yellowjackets and bees. I have made several trips into town to pick up extension cords, light bulbs, etc and everyone is out wearing shorts and tee's. I am thinking of putting a fan on my plastic snowman out front just to make sure he doesnt melt!

sheepsnot
11-26-2006, 10:12 PM
Well, it's over before it even got started. Now the high for Friday is 49º. Stupid weather people don't know what's going to happen. :-(

Misfit Toy
11-26-2006, 11:17 PM
We're having the same weather as Las Vegas...warmer even, thats not right lol :-(

They did say it will cool down and maybe get some snow next week, but I'll wait and see for myself. I just better have some white stuff by Xmas!

Christy Carol
11-27-2006, 07:26 AM
Well sheep there is hope yet. I watched the news last night and they are calling for snow and sleet here Thursday night into Friday. That cold front is suppose to move thru during the day Thursday and drop the temps and the rain change over. Now of course its been too warm here for it to accumulate but it will be nice to see. Better than this heat wave!

sheepsnot
11-27-2006, 08:39 AM
Yeah, the weatherunderground site says 36º and a 40% chance of snow but weather.com says 49º with rain and snow showers. I guess it depends on what computer model you believe.

GingerMel

This weather so totally dampens my Christmas spirit.

Christy Carol

Our high Friday is now expected to be in the low 40's but not until the afternoon with snow and sleet mix in the am. I hope its not slick Friday morning. While I would love snow I cannot drive on ice and all the idiots that think they can just because they have 4 wheel drive will be running the roads just for the thrill of it.

*edited to add, I am not calling everyone that drives a 4 wheel drive an idiot. It is just a known fact that 4 wheel drive does absolutely no good on ice, doesnt matter if you have 2 wheels or 4 wheels turning...there is no traction. But some of the good ol boys down here feel different and then after they lose control and wreck they block traffic for everyone else. I am sure anyone else who lives in the south will agree with me.

I need a weather rock with a view to the future. I have to admit, though, it is more accurate about the present than the weatherman. How many times have you heard the weatherman say there's a 50% chance of rain while it was raining?

70's today, 60's overnight with falling temps all day, temps into 20's by afternoon with a winter storm watch (possibilty of freezing rain/sleet) with lows into teens. High on Thursday is supposed to be 26 with possibility of snow. I love snow and all of that but why does it start just in time for me to have to drive to work in it??

It *might* snow early Christmas morning now if the rain starts early enough while the temps are below freezing. The high is in the mid 40's that day so if it does it wont stick...we will only see it. Guess beggars cant be choosers.

For all of you that get alot of rain or snow depending on the season, send some to Arizona. Our usual 100 year rains (happens every year it seems) should hit at the end of the month into August. So, I have a little while to go yet. The Lightning shows are pretty. The cloud cover doesn't keep us from the heat either. There isn't enough ice or cold water.

SnowMaiden1018
07-19-2007, 05:33 PM
Its just hot and muggy here, It just rained like crazy for an hour or so...but its clearing up. Unfortunately they are callling for a hailstorm this evening..last nights thunderstorm resulted in many downed trees and power lines. Two of our major highways were closed due to Live Wires on the road and flooding with a big ole tree right smack in the middle of the road! Im sick of heat, and rain I want cold and snow!!! 8:48 a.m. The deluge returned. Started last night with T&L. Foggy and grey this morning. The weather service is calling for 3" of rain in some areas.

Soooooo....row, row, row yer boat, gently down the street. Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily some Summer would be neat.

Head Elf
07-20-2007, 10:07 AM
Yes, in the high desert it does get cold. But it's a different type of cold. Up in Chicago (where I was Born) the cold can be bitter and gets into the bones so to speak. But here we can still walk around with sweatshirts on at noon, about 36/40 degrees. Sometimes it dips below zero but you just don't seem to notice it like up north. No moisture in the air. When it snows in the high desert, the snow only lasts til noon and then it's gone. Up in the mountains (of course) it seems to stay longer. The mountains are only an hour away.

Head Elf
07-20-2007, 10:08 AM

Merry Sage

If I could send some of this rain to those in need, I'd do so happily. Its causing a lot of problems over here.

I thought a Mae West had something to do with parachutes and was a bad thing?

Head Elf
07-20-2007, 12:50 PM
Maybe that's a different story about Mae West.. I always called a life vest a Mae West because it made me bigger in the chest area when I was smaller. And that's what my dad called them when he was in the military.

dvdguy
07-20-2007, 12:53 PM

Head Elf
07-20-2007, 07:59 PM
It clouded over today and we finally have a breeze blowin' through, might be in the uppers 70's rather nice tonight.
Yeah, we'll get a couple of inches and OMG the whole place shuts down, but we know that if the sun comes out it's gone shortly after that. But can't fault me for wishing for more snow.

Do you still get that look on your face and everyone goes what's the matter with you? And you remember the winters past and the joy of being a kid is in your heart? When I worked for the jail and we had a real good snow, I made snow angels all over the place before going into work. Alot of people commented on them, I never told them it was me. It was fun.....

SnowMaiden1018
07-20-2007, 08:49 PM
Yea, My eyes kinda glaze over and i will either sit in front of my window and just watch for hours or sit outside on the porch wrapped in my thickest blanket. When its snowing, its almost like the world stops, dont you think? Everything is quiet and peaceful and the air is so fresh and cleansing! The world is an entirely different place when its snowing!
People around here hate the snow becuz the entire state grinds to a halt lol..but me, I think thats one of the reasons I love it!:snowball:

Head Elf
07-20-2007, 09:53 PM
last year when it finally did snow, I walked 5 miles in it. Enjoying every snowflake. If I had a porch I would love to sit there all day watching the snow. It is so relaxing and peaceful. Like you said so cleansing. My husband thinks I'm crazzy for liking the snow fall. Both of us have been away from home for so long... he was raised in Minnesota and I was from Illinois. So we both like the cold and all and the snow, but he still thinks I'm crazy.

SnowMaiden1018
07-20-2007, 11:38 PM
wow, Minnesota? Illinois? How the heck did ya'll end up in Arizona???

p.s. I love walking in the snow too! Especially if Im really stressed, Its like when snow hits you, it awakens something childlike inside of you! So for a brief few minutes you can escape to a world where there is no worries, and just let the child within shine through! lol..My husband used to think I was nuts too! He wanted to move to Florida..and I said if it snowed at least twice in the next year we could go...Can you guess who won that one? Yup! Me!!

Well, it's like this, my mom had property out here and I bought the land next to her and she needed some adult supervision so I had a friend come out and stay with them, then my husband at the time divorced me and I married my friend and then my mom passed away and he got a job locally and I worked at the jail as a detention officer and that's the story so far.
As the snow goes it does put you in a type of wonderland and I want snow.....:snowball:

The weather here has been very fall-like. These past three days have been just gorgeous. I wake up in the morning to the low 60s, very low humidity and the high temps have been in the low to mid 80s. Hi folks. Had a violent storm blow through here in the early evening. In it's aftermath, one of our ancient 100 year old Sugar Maples fell. I was watching CNN and heard that my home town was under water. Had to call relatives to see if they were all right. My brother's house is under water. The Fox River crested and the Des Plaines river is dropping (now). But the Chain o'Lakes is expected to get hit hard.

I can't believe it ,I woke up this morning and there is a blue sky and sun shining and no wind, and a couple of my plum trees are flowering like mad now and we have tonnes of bees around, I hope this is a sign of better weather to come

Weather's gone a bit crazy in some parts of the states, actually all over. I remember the recent flooding in England and now all the flooding and winds here in the U.S. and now lots of fires in Greece (of course they believe that was somewhat arsen related but the dry conditions and some wind caused it to spread).

Head Elf

It seems that the weather is running rampant, and because of the heat creating some stupid people. It was real sad to see the devastation in Greece yesterday. Between the earthquakes in Peru/Japan and so on, to the flooding in Europe and India and the United States. Wildfires in the states and other countries. What is happening here? Please don't tell me it's global warming..... I believe it is cyclical. Let's check history and see.

The weather here has settled down. 80-90F during the day and 50's at night. A sure sign that summer is slowing down. I hope.

Head Elf - My Mom lives in Des Plaines. She had no power, and thus no water (she lives on the top floor and water has to be pumped to get to anything over four floors). So I DRAGGED her out kickin' and sratchin' over to my house for a few days. The water is down a little now, but is still very high. A strong blast of rain and they will be right back where they started from.

Iron Eagle - I heard that they were supposed to get more rain this week, I hope all is well back home. Out here in desert land, the swirling vortex of weather hits the reservation and the other towns surrounding us, but not us. Great lightening shows though. It's sunny, bright, white fluffy clouds in the sky and hotter than heck. One of these days we might get some rain........ Have your mom or you send some rain our way. I don't know if I can pay you for rain (or snow), but I'm willing to.

I hope the awful weather isn't that bad either, but the fires already started here, we have a phyromaniac running loose here, I just don't understand how their thinking, after all that rain we had last week , you think that the fires wouldn't take off the way they do, but of course they would be using excellerants(D...heads) is the names I call them, and gutless they only get the enjoyment out of it themselves , and they don't worry about the damage and suffering they cause averybody else, so enogh about that the weather today is a Beautiful spring fine day, still cool at night at least the fires aren't going all day long now, just at night and we had our first BBQ tonight for dinner, it started to get a bit cool sitting outside eating, but it was great though...

It has been a hot hot hot week this week, with a few days over the century mark by a few degrees. to hot for me. We are suppose to be in the upper 80's or 90's today. Glad I get to stay indoors. Was suppose to work today but most of our county is out of electricity but our little town was spared so get to play on puter a bit. Power will be out most of the day as for some reason one of our main transformers blew.

20 degrees, winds from the north at 5mph.
Overnight snow was about 10-12 inches.
Continuing snow showers most of the day.
Colder tonight into the teens.

Oh wait, you wanted to know what the weather is here, and now ? Not the way I'd like it to be ??? OK, but it's a lot duller. 75 degrees, Sunny, with light westerly breezes. High of 80F. Next weeks highs are only 70F. Hopefully fall will start late next week.

Hey Chilly, Im with you it would be nice if some of you would send me and my southern neighbor Chilly some of that autumn weather. Our trees are turning but still hot out.
The temp here was 90 today and no end in sight. We have had a couple days of rain but they were few and far in between and all gone now. Our river here (the South Umpqua) is so low that we can walk across it in spots without getting our ankles wet. Oh for some rain. Rain would also help clear the air as there is lots of smoke in it from a few fires around, nothing serious, probable farmers burning their fields right now, I hope anyway.

Its vascilating here. After a very wet miserable Summer, the past couple of weeks have been gorgeous. Nice late Summer weather. Now this weekend its been grey and a bit chilly. But we're still sleeping with the bedroom windows open!

I have a new field jacket on backorder with Lands End, eta mid-October. By which time I'm hoping we'll be well into Fall weather.

Up here in the high desert, it isn't as hot as it was last week. Day temps are in the high 80's to low 90's and good sleeping weather at night with 57 degrees. Windows open and that makes for a good nights sleep. Didn't get much of a rainy season up here, so I'm hoping for maybe 3" of snow this winter. We never get more than that. Enough snow to make a footprint and mud.

It's 10 pm give or take a few minutes and I have A/C on and sitting in front of my fan. Still very hot days and fairly warm nights. I would love to have some cooler weather for a bit anyway. Suppose to be in upper 90's and lower 100's for next 5 days. Hope weatherman is all wrong.
