Once upon a time, I baked 44 dozen cookies of all different kinds for Christmas. I gifted many of them to extended family members and friends who just didn't have the time to make these special holiday treats. The rest...well, we've decided that the Cookie Monster must have been an uninvited guest that year, because there's no way we could have eaten that many cookies. Needless to say, none of us dared set a toe on the scale until...July.
:treeguy: My favorite cookie is a soft gingerbread with icing.

I know the feeling..last year we went on a cooky baking frenzy...MY Daughter here and I made 20 different kinds of cokies..a gingerbread house, treasure box and train.....and almost as many candies..........This year we are cutting way back...(We say!) WE mailed off and gave away..and uh huh--we ate the rest..now some of us have had to diet all year..lol

I remember when I was very small, it was my "job" to leave cookies and milk for Santa. Of course, my favorite cookie...and in fact the only cookie I would eat way back then, was the chocolate chip. Convinced Santa would need lots of cookies to keep his strength up, the pile grew higher and higher atop our Christmas plate. Then Mom, with a loving touch and a gentle voice, suggested I leave only a couple of cookies for Santa. Afterall, he was going to be stopping at so many children's homes, he problably wouldn't be that hungry. I reluctantly removed all but two of the cookies that Christmas eve. They seemed so unimpressive next to that tall glass of milk. But on Christmas morning, laying amidst the cookie crumbs on our Christmas plate that sat beside an empty milk glass, was a note that said, "The two cookies were exactly what I needed. I ate one as I delivered your presents, and took one for the road. Thank you...Santa." How did Mom know that?
