We have our 1st chance of snow this coming Thursday (10-12)..they are calling for a low of 29º & snow at night!! Yippee!! I'm not really ready for it, but what the heck!!! :-D It's hard to believe that it could be that cold in just a few days...we were out on the boat today & it was 78º! Oh well...let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!! (But if it want's to stay at 78º, that will be perfectly fine too!! Lol)

I heard that too, a little snow will be nice. I don't expect to get much more than flurries, but ya never know. We've been known to have 80 degree weather one day and a snow storm the next at times, so you can never say never. =)

It would be nice if we at least had some consistant weather. today it was in the 70's and in a few days it's supposed to be in the low 50's.

When we moved to Utah one of the traditions we have quickly had to get accustomed to was trick or treating in the snow.
Nothing like a little princess bundled in goose down.

I remember trick or treating, as a butterfly, with an ugly yellow flowered coat underneath my costume. Not a good candy year....I kind of looked like the German caterpillar in A Bug's Life after he turned into a "Beauuuutiful Butterfly"
Jeff Westover

There is no bad trick or treating here. There are more than 70 kids who live on my street alone. The kids come back ready to open their own store. With the masses out, a bad costume just doesn't get noticed.

I'm in west central Ohio...now today they aren't calling for snow anymore! They were calling for rain Thursday & snow Thursday night. They are still calling for the rain during the day, but only clouds at night. It's supposed to get down to 28º so if there is rain durning the day with temps dropping, there's still a good chance of the white stuff!! :???: Usually when they are calling for the 1st snow fall, it never happens, so I won't be surprised if we don't get it...just cold, cold, cold & dreary!! :(

I can't wait! The fireplace is ready to go, and plenty of wood has been brought in to keep it dry.
Trouble with Virginia, though, is that we never get a decent snow, just lots of cold rain.
I hope it stays dry for Halloween night, I love passing out candy each year!

I'm hoping to kiss the 80s goodbye today. We are supposed to get up to 83º and then Thursday's high is 55º. Time to bust out the deep fryer in prep for Thanksgiving. Best day of the year at work is the day before Thanksgiving because we fry several turkeys right outside my back door. It never tastes better than straight out of the fryer.

We picked up a Farmers Almanac over the weekend and for my zone it is calling for a colder and wetter December with possible significant snowfall amounts. This could get interesting.
Of course all the old cronies around here are saying we are in for a bad winter. Something about since we had frost so early in October and when this happened before we had a record snowfall in the following winter. They have even been quoting the years, I think the last one was 2000 and I am thinking that is the year we got 16 inches.

My God, I am so jealous of all your snow!
The bad thing about Ireland (yes, there is one :-D ), is that the countrys weather is WAy too mild! We don't have a snow season. We might have a once off flurry! Last year we had a cm in December that lasted less than a day, and a snow storm in March which lasted a little under a day.
Right now, it is quite cold. (43 degrees). Reported is frost....but NO chance of snow. In Ireland it is unrealistic to expect snow until about Xmas. (But even then it is just a blind wish for a white Xmas).
So, it's November.....start of Winter.....Bring on the snow!

Depends on where you're comparing it to. We're having the coldest day in several days and it is expected to get to 61º. It hit 80º a couple days ago. When I lived in Scotland we had some snow (and it did seem like we had more back then) but usually it just rained. But boy was it beautiful when it did snow.
