for the record, according to jeff, we were not hacked. it was just that the server upgrade was started early. and in the process of the change-over, we lost yesterday. i do not understand the technical how or whys, but i am sure that jeff will post something later today.

Yes, he's home til Monday because he's under the weather.
We've been married 4 years now. It's been a fun filled four years!
Thanks for all the well wishes. I thought I had been erased from everyone's memories when I saw so many posts had disappeared yesterday. Very scary. We made it through Friday the 13th fine...but Thursday the 19th was a problem.

Sorry for the lateness on this. I've been kind of neglecting the board the last few days. :(
Congrats on the anniversary! Here's to many more to come. I'm curious, did you two getting together have anything to do with your mutual love of Christmas?
Hope you feel better, by the way.

I never get a flu shot. I may regret it this year though. I could have had one for free through the county. By the way it's very blustery in Florida today. It's supposed to be even colder tomorrow.

Even Older, LOL!!! Yea I may regret not getting one because I'm going up north. My family seems to be sick all the time up there.

Maryland for Thanksgiving. That's where my mom and my sister are. My cousin is in PA but she's coming to Maryland with her two boys to spend Thanksgiving with us. Were all the family she has. She's lost a brother, mother, father and husband within a span of about 10 years. She's been through alot. She just registered on the forums last night.

They will give you flu

I started getting the flu shot when I still lived with my parents and grandmother. Since I was out in the working world, I didn't want to bring it home and "share" it with my 89 year old grandmother.
dominick
10-26-2006, 05:14 PM
Unfortunately, you would have still been able to bring the virus home. You would have just been less likely to get severely ill from it. Only thing you could do to keep from bringing it home is to disinfect yourself before coming in.
Ervserver
10-26-2006, 05:19 PM
nothing like hosing yourself with Lysol before seeing grandma
:???:
dominick
10-26-2006, 05:22 PM
The only reason I know this is because my own Grandmother was bed ridden a couple years ago. Everyone else in the house had flu shots and never got the flu, but my Grandma ended up getting it. The doctor said that you can still be a carrier of the virus and not be infected yourself.

I was wondering who was doing all that sawing and hammering.
dominick
10-26-2006, 07:47 PM
No, he's around. It's just hard to see the keyboard and monitor through the cloud of Lysol.
Ervserver
10-26-2006, 07:49 PM
funny because I have a phobic uncle who always touches everything with a cloth, sprays Lysol everywhere, takes every vitamin under the sun yet he gets more colds and flu than anyone else in the family.
dominick
10-26-2006, 07:51 PM
Perhaps then he has good reason to be afraid of germs. I know if I got burned several times a week, I'd start to fear fire. That's a pretty poor analogy, but you get the point.
Ervserver
10-26-2006, 07:57 PM
Very true and it sure doesn't do any harm to spray phones and car door handles with Lysol several times a day.
Christy Carol
10-26-2006, 09:19 PM
Hey, hand that Lysol over here. I have been keeping myself holed up in my office for 2 weeks while the funk runs thru the firm. Alot of good it has done me since my new girl showed up today sick as a dog. I wouldn't let her sit with me and kept using my Germ-X everytime I touched anything but my keyboard. I am not a germ-a-phob...I am a hate-to-be-sick-a-phob.

A good reason to stay home when sick....don't get other people sick
Christy Carol
10-26-2006, 09:26 PM
I started to send her home but she missed Tuesday due to her 8 month old being sick and this being her second week. It did tee me off though cuz she knew I was trying not to get sick, she should have alteast called and asked me if she should stay at home.

It's that time of year, people hack you at the super market, don't cover their mouths when sneezing, let their nose drip into the buffet at the Hungry Heifer.
No matter how careful you are it's the OTHER guy.

So far I have not been infected even though the new HR person came to my office yesterday hacking and then expected me to shake her hand!!! I politely waved and kept my hands in my lap.
I for one would be the first person to sign a petition to outlaw handshaking.
