Report A "Grinch"

Just last week we wrote you about how you can "Help Save Christmas", and you are already reporting back about what is happening in your area. The ACLU has threatened to sue Berkley, Michigan over a nativity scene display which also includes a Star of David, Christmas trees, a Santa Claus figure, a Santa’s Mailbox, and a “Seasons Greetings” sign.

We are also receiving reports about retailers that are ignoring Christmas.

A man from Mississippi reports:

In a town where I work, Lowe's ... has already insulted me with their "Happy Holidays" on everything in the store. Sure there is an angel or two and maybe a small nativity display for sale, but most everything there is "Holiday".

If we ignore these attacks on Christmas that seem small, we will eventually be faced with persecution as our faith is swept from the public square. The secularization of Christmas is nothing new. Christianity Today reported a few years ago that in the Vietnamese province of Dak Lak, children's choirs were forbidden to sing "Silent Night." The Soviet Union eventually folded all Christmas commemorations into New Years celebrations. From 1969 to 1997, Christmas was banned in Cuba. Such examples are endless. It's time to band together and help save Christmas.

Are the "grinches" at work in your town already? We want to hear about it. Send an email to liberty@lc.org and file a "grinch" report!

Speaking of nativity scenes, Sam's has a beautiful nativity scene for under $100. It looks much more expensive than that, believe me, or I wouldn't think it was a bargain. They also have a whole victorian village set for under $100.

You know...I have a friend, who is a devout Christian tell me that she despises "Nativity Scenes" because of how inaccurate they are. She says that she doesn't understand how baby Jesus...a jew...could be blonde haired and blue-eyed...especially since he's gotta survive in the dessert lands of Israel without sunscreen. She's got a good point...I'd think if anyone in Israel back in those days were pale and blonde...they'd have skin cancer before the age of 5.

I remember a cover of Time magazine that had pictures of Jesus as He is viewed in various countries around the world. Everyone sees Him like themselves, which, while inaccurate, isn't such a bad thing. Here's a link to an article in Popular Mechanics about the "real" Jesus: http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/navigate.do?dest=5&item=339941

Those are nice looking sets may have to get me one. Was thinking of getting a set at Hobby Lobby that you had to hand paint but the Sam's set would save me the chore

I was thinking of using my Wagner power sprayer, could do the nativity and some yard fence in one shot

Then you'd have a beautifil silhoutte of the nativity on your fence to enjoy year round.

True...except in this country(which is comprised of several different races, ethnicities and skin colors) Jesus is predominantly portrayed as being fair-haired and white...and white people are definitely not the only people in this nation who believe in him.

Since I was a kid Jesus has always looked like Jim Morrison of the Doors. I don't think anyone really knows what he looks like.
