I've been searchin for some sort of holiday tv schedule but no luck. Don't they plan this stuff well in advance?

dominick
10-20-2006, 05:10 PM
My experience is that you won't start seeing advertising for it until after Halloween at the earliest. The channels that get heavy into Christmas stuff usually do a fair amount for Halloween, too, so they're busy advertising that stuff.

I suppose but I wanna know now

dominick

Your best bet is to do what I did and get the majority of their programming on DVD to add to your personal collection. That'll keep you from freaking out in the mean time. 8)

I've got so much stuff either on dvd (and I don't hold a candle to dvdguy or some of you other folks) or downloaded on the PC, plus Christmas Broadband to listen to all year, holiday programming isn't such a big deal. I like the new commercials, though. One day I'll tell you how my wife thought the Clydesdales could really play football. So smart, yet...

caseydbell
10-21-2006, 03:39 PM
Sice its not a Christmas Movie, Why is it on 25 days? There are some Christmas movies that they only show 1 time but potter is shown 3 or more, dosent make since to me.

Ervserver
10-21-2006, 04:00 PM
I dunno, I'm not an expert on those movies. Is there some Christmas stuff in a episode?

caseydbell
10-21-2006, 04:39 PM
There are a couple Christmas scenes, but the bottom line in my opinion is this, HP is more a halloween move if anything.

Christy Carol

I think they ran it last year as a family movie to watch during the holiday time. Ya know having all the family together for some good quality time and spend it watching a movie all ages can enjoy. But I agree its not a holiday movie and there are plenty of good family Christmas themed movies to replace it.

The Christmas scene in the first Potter movie is pretty neat, what with the huge fireplace and all.

A movie is not a Christmas movie to me unless really has something to do with Christmas thru out the whole movie. If a movie has one scene it with a little Christmas I would not call that a Christmas movie

dominick
10-26-2006, 12:52 PM
Okay, here's a couple tough ones.

Lethal Weapon? I believe the opening song is Jingle Bell Rock, shows Mel Gibson watching Christmas programming, and revolves around his depression brought on by the loss of his wife around the holidays.

DieHard? The entire movie takes place at a Christmas party and started from him flying in to be with his family for Christmas. Dead guy with a Santa hat kind of puts a damper on the festivities, though.

No, I don't really consider them Christmas movies, but I do enjoy watching them as a change up around Christmas.

Ervserver
10-26-2006, 01:08 PM
Use the remote and fast forward to the Christmas parts, rewind, then fastward to them again, repeat several times. Then you can call them Christmas movies.

Have to go with The Polar Express now!!! An instant holiday classic. Also like Home Alone 1 & 2 along with the Tim Allen Santa Clause movies. Looking forward to the third "installment." Even though it has gotten not so great reviews it just put more in the Xmas spirit.

dominick

Okay, I did a search for a 2006 schedule. Apparently they have already done a news release that hints to their schedule, and several sources have said that they are coming out with two new made for TV movies and will be airing Polar Express. This is the most detailed thing I've seen so far concerning it, but take it for what it's worth (just a post on another forum, albeit from an administrator over there).

Glad you are man enough to admit it. But they do the same to me too.

There is suppose to be a Hallmark movie coming on I think Sunday night on one of the major networks. I am not sure if it is holiday related or not but their movies are always good. Plus I bet they premiere their Christmas commericals for this year during it.

edited to add: The movie is called "Candles on Bay Street" and it's on Nov 26th

are you talking about the 25 days of christmas on abc family? cause if you are it wasn't to bad last year. but this year is going to be better I think. I have been disappointed in ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas for the past few years. I remember when they first started airing it, the whole night was filled with a lot of animated programs. Some of them were the old classics, but some I hadn't ever seen. Now it seems to be filled with movies that are not Christmas oriented or that would not keep a child's interest. I liked the way it use to be, because the whole family could watch and be entertained together without having to worry about anything inappropriate popping up. I wish it would go back to the way it was.

HollyJells

was originally just the family channel then fox bought it FOX FAMILY then abc took it over. 3 years ago it was ALL about christmas now they took the good movies away and replaced them with YUCKO- My fave was and still is CHRISTMAS EVERYDAY.
