So, I have "The Great American Christmas" on Google Alerts...cause...I'm in it. I'm Ted of Drew and Ted. They follow my life partner and I back home to southern Illinois for our first FAMILY Christmas.

I really love Christmas...so I love this message board!

Great Work.

I manage my own website too. You can see my Christmas page on my own website by going to...

http://www.OutoftheCloset.tv/christmas/index.html

Once there, you'll see I'm as big of a fan of Christmas as you all!

Let me know if you watch the movie!

It's was sort of cool. Normally, I run a video website here in Los Angeles called, OutoftheCloset.tv. One day I was posting a casting notice on Craigslist for something I was casting and I saw a posting that read, "Do you love Christmas?" That's all it said. I click on the message and it said something like..."If you love Christmas, tell us something special that is going to happen THIS Christmas."

So, I scratched my head and thought. Special about this Christmas? Hmmm...well...I don't know. I was reading this message in June or July so I was like...that's so far off. Then I thought, I'm taking my life-partner home with me. This is the first time I've ever taken a guy home with me. I didn't really think of it as being "SPECIAL" if you know what I mean. All I was thinking of was the nightmare it could be for my family. But when I read in the email, "SPECIAL" and I thought to myself...maybe if I created it in my head that it would be a SPECIAL event...maybe everything would turn out alright.

Next thing I know, someone from NBC responded to my email. The correspondence continued for several months. Then one day, everything started to happened fast. They called on a Wednesday and asked if they could stop by our Downtown LA loft and interview us Thursday morning. We agreed. Next thing you know, we were getting our families on the phone and asking them if they would be okay with us filming the entire Christmas.

I have to admit....it was like asking your "Best Friend" if you could borrow 2 million dollars. I just thought it would be an impossible endeavor. Well...I have to admit...things got crazy, but the final answer was....YES!

Everything was a "GO." Next thing you know, the miracle started. Two camera crews showed up at our Christmas party here in Los Angeles. Then a camera crew flew to southern Illinois to meet us as we got off the airplane. For the next 5 days, they filmed everything. I have to admit...most of the journey I was in a daze. It was like everything had a cloud over it. It was like a dream I wasn't waking up from. Was this really happening? Was my family participating in a reality movie where they meet my life partner for the first time? This just can't really be happening...and then I'd see a camera pointing at me in my face. Imagine a camera hidden behind the piano at your Christmas Eve church service...and then realizing it's pointing at YOU! I mean...it's all so crazy STILL to think that this is really happening to MY family.

The bottomline for me though is that I believe and have faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. I believe that God loves all his Creation. I don't think God creates junk. I have faith that God can use our families story so that others can find hope in the holidays.

I read a bunch about this but not everything. I saw that they are taking apps until Dec. 1st. Will they knock out the filming in time for a show this year?

I think they only filmed last year. Where is it that you found that they are filming this year. I don't think they are filming this again.

You have to remember, there are 6 stories all happening at one time. In 30 seconds you aren't going to be able to understand much about 6 different families, so I think the intention of the commercial is to give you a simple taste...a few slides of the film.

Ted

P.S. But yes, I agree the commercial could be more like the one that Bill Murray wanted in SCROOGE! War, starvion, LOL... You guys and gals remember that scary commercial that gave the granny a heart attack?
