For those of you who consider yourself foodies, chefs, cooks, or just plain lovers of EATING, Food Network is about to start it's famous annual countdown to Thanksgiving and is in the middle of their yearly Season's Eatings series. There's all sorts of great specials on during this time of year. They have the Food Network All Star Thanksgiving, All Star Holiday Party, 12 Days of Cookies, and other awesome specials. It's great for new recipes and ideas.

Also, has anyone ever heard of the Fine Living Channel? Last year on Christmas day they played Christmas music and showed live shots of snow-covered towns in Utah and Switzerland. It was soooo cute because I watched families slide down snow covered hills on Christmas morning. If you have that channel it would be a great thing to turn on in the background while you're opening presents, sipping hot chocolate and preparing Christmas dinner.

I'm actually watching the Alton Brown Turkey episode right now. I have it on DVD, but it's still good background to have on while enjoying the forum.

They are. His turkey is pretty much fool proof, and it's an excellent recipe. I watched the fry episode last Sunday. He was getting way enthusiastic about the rig to drop the turkey in.

 Would you put an emergency light on yours, too? I don't intend on frying any turkeys in the near future, but if and when I do, I probably won't be building a turkey crane to drop it in. I would venture to say that I'm not alone on that.

I guess we just got Fine Living because I saw it the other day for the first time when flipping channels. I probably wouldnt have paid attention but they were showing wintertime's best vacations and they were showing lots of snow. I guess I need to check this channel out more, thanks for the heads up!!

lol, i think i might introduce that concept to my mom....but i'm afraid to mess with her way of cooking the turkey....hers always turn out great and she usually bastes and puts things in the turkeys cavity to give it flavor- butter, broth, veggies, etc.
