I know i'm giong to get alot of posts for this but i want to just see what will come up. Usually kids start to outgrow the myth of santa at about 8-10 yrs. old. Not me i'm twelve and still believe. It just adds to the christmas feeling. Well if u want to discuss this then post away on ur thoughts. :D

I am a mother therefore I am not smaller, but I believe in my heart to Santa.
He renders happy to believe me, in a world like ours where we see many ugly things, living in the "magical world" of Santa renders the life beautifulr....
I BELIEVE IN SANTA
Io sono una mamma quindi non sono pił piccola, ma io credo nel mio cuore a Santa.
Mi rende felice credere, in un mondo come il nostro dove vediamo tante brutte cose, vivere nel "mondo" magico di Santa rende la vita pił bella....
IO CREDO IN SANTA

I believe in Santa, too. He is VERY real.
It amazes me that people can encourage their kids to believe in comic book heroes like Spiderman or to pretend with characters from the movies like Mickey Mouse but they completely discount Santa Claus.
Santa was a real person who loved Christmas and served people. He was one of us. Real. Flesh and blood. And he acted and believed in things we want to emulate.
To me, he was the model for how Christmas should be celebrated.

This is a really good question, not something to be taken lightly or just dismissed. I have spent a lot of time thinking about it and wondering what people mean when they ask such a question. Are you asking if Santa ever existed? I think history answers that for us. Is he still climbing down chimneys today? Ah, there's the $60,000 question. In many ways I would have to say yes. Not just one guy in one sleigh doing the rounds, but I see it as the spirit of Santa in the hearts of millions who are doing the work for him. And where did Santa get his spirit of giving? From the giver of all good gifts, God Himself. This is what I believe.

If he weren't, then why would I be dangling my truck keys in front of his face all the time?

I'll say he is.
When I was younger, my sister and I used to get letters from Santa right inside our stockings (along with any presents he left us).
And about the leaving milk and cookies for him? I find also that to be true.

Dan, The Man.I am 70 years old and I can't wait every year for it to be Santa time. Who else would be on my roof with a bunch of deer---especially one with a red nose. He certainly makes me feel very happy the next day and it seems all my grand children are just as happy with Santa as I am. "You Gotta Believe".

Well.. honestly? I know there isn't someone that comes round our houses and leaves presents. I think it's nice to think there is though. There once was St Nick, as every1 knows, Santa was created as a character representing St Nick. St nick was real but isnt anymore, Santa was made TO REPRESENT him, this doesn't mean its a real person. Santa to me is just Christmas, If you think of christmas it's Santa. I am 13 and stopped believe in this MYTH around 10-11 yearz old so not that long ago. I believe in the spirit of the whole thing. But no, Santa as a person isn't real. :-D

people believe in aliens, whats so hard to believe about Santa? Little green men with big eyes who have mastered interstellar flight & the best they can do is make pictures in cornfields, kidnap Cletus the slackjawed yokel, & mutilate cows. Yeah thats so much easier to believe. I'll go with nice guy with the reindeer who brings me gifts thanks

I had a child ask me "Are you real?".
I grabbed my arm, then my nose, and cheek and said, "Well, I feel real!"

whats so hard to believe about santa claus?
He's chubby: I see that everyday next
reindeer fly: How do you know they dont? Because nobodies ever seen it ? Theres a fish that scientist had thought was extinct because nobody had ever seen a live one. Then one day a fisherman caught one & now theres been numerous sightings. Just because you dont see it, doesnt mean its not there. next
he visits so many houses in one night? I believe someone smarter than I explained this already, but if you dont believe that, theres ways to bend time & traverse dimensions & make these things happen. Next
oh you dont have any other arguments? thats right doesnt sound so silly now does it?

The best thing about believing is that you don't need hard core evidence to believe; you just do. Evidence convinces people who already believe that they were right all along, but unless your heart is open to it, no amount of evidence will do.

Ever meet those people who even when hit in the face with fact they still dispute something? One can have all the evidence in the world and there will still be those who don't believe.

After his wife passed away earlier this year he met a another Asian gal but she didn't want to move to USA. So he moved there and does his show from there via ISDN. He made a comment on his show one night that the officials there didn't like and now he thinks they are out to get him.

I remember the day I found out santa was real, I was a young one, maybe around 6 years old. My family and I were on vacation in Mexico and I had left my teddybear at the hotel, we arrived back in canada 2 days before christmas, I wrote a letter to santa asking if he could bring my teddy home. Well christmas morning there was my teady all wrapped up under the tree for me. It was a true christmas miracle. (I bet my parrents paid a lot of money to get that thing shipping back on time lol)

Like most of the others, if parents are letting their kids believe in super heros and aliens and such, why not Santa? I live by a person who will not celebrate Christmas because she says it's not a real holiday and she has told her kids this every year. And that there is no such person as Santa Claus. When the kids come down to my house and tell me that I have to break out my letter from Santa and my Elf Academy certificates and such. One year they told their Grandparents this tid bit (Grandpa is a minister) and he kind of went off the deep end. We all got together and explained to the kids that Christmas was infact real and so was the MAIN HEAD ELF. That the season is for love, innocence and giving not receiving. The first snow fall and the magic that is in it. The Good Tidings that everyone gives to each other. How we all forget our differences and come together as humans and enjoy the season. For those that are religious in nature, it's the time to remember the Nativity and how one baby overwhelmed the world. Jesus may be the king of Kings but it's his arrival that sends a message every year. It's not about the commercial side of things. I can almost think that it is one big birthday party for everyone because of one child. After that little speach the kids got into Christmas as long as their mother isn't around. The mother won't even come down when we are opening presents and she very rarely joins us for dinner. It's really sad......

Ah Virginia. In all this world can there be anything any more real than Santa? Why there may as well be no Virginias. He will live 10,000 years, nay, 10 time 10,000 years. He wil live forever gladdening the hearts of children all over the world. Yes, Virginia there is a Santa Claus..

But, people realize he DOES exist. Heck, he even exists on MySpace (my sister thinks those are all fake). While the elves are working on the toys and Mrs. Claus is baking the cookies, Santa takes time to sit down to MySpace and read everyone's wish lists.

I read through most of these replies (but not all) so I hope I'm not repeating someone else's thoughts here. The story of St Nicholas is very dear to my family and every year we read from a story book depecting the life of the very real saint. At our home we do talk about St Nicholas more than Santa Claus, but the expression of love through a gift and in homage to the ultimate gift should always be a part of your life, IMO.
In my faith we believe in a communion with the saints that is as real and present and effective as our communion with family friends here on earth.
He is real and he does care and he is praying for you and interceding for you, maybe even now.

Santa lives in the heart of every child, teen and adult who believes, You can never stop believing, He IS real, he IS here, He's bringing the gifts that grant wishes & joy every Christmas, think of how much love kids have for Santa, surely that's not all in vain?
