Ok... I am eastmillguy on ChristmasBoard and I am a moderater on there. I went to check on it to see if anyone has post anything, and people did, so i logged on. When I got there, I saw that it was about 5 people talking really bad and this must be a christmas eve present or something? Since I'm one of the only people that go on there, I took care of it (its my job anyway). The sad part is it took me about 2-3 hours to do. THey must of had 400+ posts and I was mad. I dont know why people do this. I wish I could ban those people from posting but I'm no Administrator. I just hope it doesn't happen again.

Were they actual users or spammers? We get some nasty stuff here every day. We try to stay on top of it as much as possible. Easily 2/3 of the new members on any given day are spammers, and most of those are hocking links to some really perverted stuff.

I'm not sure what you are saying about the users or spamers. But they became users to spam and they were sending perverted links. They also had perverted pictures. It was all stuff that shouldn't be on a Christmas Forum. It shouldn't even be on any forum. It took me forever to do that and I bet they didn't even care.

My distinction between a user and spammer is that a user is someone who signed up with the intention of becoming a member of the community. A spammer is either an individual or "bot" that signed up to post a set number of times links to their crap and then take off never to return. You'll find that usually they are automated programs designed to just post and move on. You HAVE to stay on top of that stuff because it will build up fast. We get so very much of it day in and day out. ElfWorks does a good job of catching them on the member list before they're able to post, and that cuts down on a lot of it, but you still have to stay vigilant.

That's good... I don't really see all the spam that is on here... I'm sure there could be a lot. I think we should keep an eye out for these people on this website too cause I'm sure there was links on the Christmas Board website. It would be sad if they did come here. I would help if I could but I'm not a mod on here. Let's just hope that it doesn't happen.

Trust me, they're already here.
The fact that you don't see them is a testiment to how much time is invested by the mod/admin team to keep this place clean. I can tell you first hand that today alone there were 12 new users banned. Most of them were caught before shooting off even one post (there was one Britney Spears porn spammer that got one while being banned). It angers me so much that this stuff is an issue on a website that is otherwise very child friendly, so I devote as much free time as I can to keeping the site clean.

I agree with that 100%. The people on the other thing... all they talked about was stuff against Christmas or perverted stuff. THe thing that questions me is.... why on this website. Is Christmas really that bad of a holiday?

DevOn - The "bots" don't know a Christmas board from a car board to a knitting enthusiast board. The live ones just don't care.
e_xander - I appreciate the look out. We really do try hard to keep this place spam-free.
