So anyone experiencing the blues yet? Surprisingly I'm not. Even though I had a very different Christmas this year it was very nice and I am feeling ok tonite. Actually a little relieved that it is over because this season has been so stressful. I remember as a child I used to hate this time of day because all the excitement was over for an entire year but now that times goes by so fast I know that I better use the next 365 days to get ready because Christmas is just around the corner again!

I'm not exactly feeling down but I'm feeling a bit "off". I guess the move and 1200+ miles distance from my family has shook me more that I had anticipated. I have to say that, being the only one willing to pick up the phone to wish people a Merry Christmas, has made it even a little rougher. I don't want to complain on Christmas, but when you put a lot of time, thought and money into gifts for your nieces and nephews....well, let's just say I'm disappointed that they couldn't even spend $.39 to mail me a card. Same disappointment as every year. I guess I'll never get over it.

I hope you ALL had a wonderful Christmas.

I always struggle once Christmas is over. I dread taking the decorations down. I actually talked to my family sereral times today. My sister is now engaged. I'm trying to set other goals to get my mind off the fact that Christmas is now over. I'm also planning to switch to a bank that has a Christmas club so I can save money for next year and not worry about weather I will have enough for gifts next year. I guess it's time to start the countdown over again.

A little, yes of course. Especially since tonight is the last of the Christmas music on the radio. Some do a mix of holiday music until new years though, sometimes. The day came and went (soon) so fast, I can't believe it. Times been going fast, but I think we find ourselves saying that every year now.

But its not over yet, Xmas is still here. Its still the holiday season through to New Years. And I hope we get some snow soon. I've decided I won't be taking my decorations down until the very end of January. My whole theme is pretty much one big winter wonderland, so I would like to keep them up for the majority of the season and main wintry months. January is still a holiday seasonish month in a way, to me anyway. Plus, I have a lot to take down, it will be lots of work. I like to enjoy it for as long as I can.

But it sure does go fast. While it may seem far now, soon enough we"ll be back to saying......"man oh man, its only a few days until Halloween and already stores are getting the decorations out and the spirit is in the air...........!"

Ya know what kills me the most is that everything just stops. No Christmas on tv, none on the radio. It's too sudden. I need to be weened off of it. When it all just stops the day after it's like being cut off at the knees.

In a way I'm glad it's over, but I'm going to miss the decorations and music. It'll be October again before I know it, though, and I'll start gearing up all over again.

Mrs H, I know what it's like to be 1000+ miles away from everyone on Christmas, and the move from a cold winter climate to a warm one, too. That was not a particularly joyous Christmas for me or my family (and one good friend in particular).

I agree there HolyNight. Just now I hopped into my car to run to town expecting to hear carols and it was back to normal. That is the worst. Thank goodness for CD's!!

I am about to go to Wal-Mart so alteast I will get to see some decorations even if they are picked over. I got some good deals at the Dollar Store earlier...I will post about all my goodies when I get back later!!

I'm so happy, just turned the radio on (see sig) and the Xmas music hasn't stopped!!!! They're continuing they way they did it last year doing a mixture of holiday and regular music until New Years, after Xmas.

I like it this way, then it doesn’t just come to a complete halt midnight at the end of Xmas day. Its still holiday time, no reason for it to all just go away like that.

dominick
12-26-2006, 03:10 PM
Ours didn't stop at midnight, but it's over now. I don't know when it stopped, but I was out at 2:30am and it was still playing.

I think I am getting the blues about going back to work tomorrow!

Actually I am watching The Little Drummer Boy while sitting here posting. Another show I didnt have time to watch but taped. I am sure I will be watching movies for some time.

But Dom I am with you, in a way I am glad it is over. I am ready to get my house back in order and get the tree out of here. I had intended on taking the ornies off today but spent to much time shopping and now I am pooped.

And I guess since I didnt have too much Christmas this year I dont have the day after blues.

Misfit Toy

Taking ornaments down already?

Its still holiday time, you still got new years. I still have another Xmasy new years get together on new years eve coming up. Even some stuff I got today, I'm putting up...I'm still decorating lol

But its true, sometimes you have that feel of just wanting to get everything back in order again. I've had that before. But this year I'm wanting to keep it up longer until the end of January and just have a whole wintery theme for a while for the starting months of winter. May take the odd thing down though after New Years.

Christy Carol
12-26-2006, 06:56 PM
Yup, taking it down. I have removed everything off the tree except the lights and I wont take those off until I get the tree out in the yard. Makes it alot easier. Plus my tree is beyond dead and it needs to get out of my house!!!

I have taken almost everything else down too and have it wrapped and placed it in the tub. I used to be nuts about not taking the stuff down until after New Years but since we moved right after Christmas last year and I had to take everything down it just seems right to go ahead and get it out of the way. I am gonna miss it but I have all this new stuff I got today to forget about thru the year and then be all excited over it next year.

I knew you had mentioned having more of a winter theme than Christmas and if I had something like that I would probably leave it up longer. I would like to keep my snowmen out longer but as the first of the year arrives I get my mind on spring cleaning and I am ready to get started early. I will probably start cleaning out closets, drawers and cabinets next weekend.

Misfit Toy

Yea, thats good then.

I guess I'm wanting to keep it out longer too, after New Years, because we haven't had any snow yet. It feel like that finishing touch is still needed :(

I suffer them everytime Christmas is on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday (and it was on Monday this year, next year it's Tuesday). You're like "Where'd the time go?"

But, as the song suggests, there ARE 12 Days of Christmas. We're on the SECOND day (and the last day is Jan. 6, 3 Kings Day)

And yes, I'm another person who dreads taking down the decorations. All that hard work for NIL.

I agree! :( They just killed everything here at midnight of Christmas Day. I'm not as bad as last year, but I am feeling a little down. I'm glad I joined this group, though. You guys are great and I think if I hadn't found you guys, I would be 5 times worse than I am. I plan on leaving most of my decorations up until about mid-end of January.

Thanks guys for being who you all are.

yup, now today I am feeling the effects. First day back at work and NOTHING good to listen too. I have decided I hate all modern music. I am having a hard time not tuning back into a Christmas internet station.

How can they just drop us like this? For weeks we hear it every day and then BOOM, gone. Its like a huge shame to still be enjoying the season come Dec. 26th the way everyone acts.

I know how all you feel too... I am feeling the same way. No one talkin Christmas around our area. I have to say the same thing as e_xander. I'm just glad all of you are being yourself cause I would feel much worse if no one wasn't talkin on here.

I am starting to feel the blues. Hubby goes back to work tomorrow, so we went ahead and took all the decorations down. My house is a mess, and I just don't feel like fooling with it. At least the kids don't go back to school until Jan. 3. That is when it is really going to hit me.

I'm feeling the Christmas Blues definetely. It just seems that it all ends way too fast each year. I mean, you have November and December and then, poof it seems for me after the 25th, that everything spirals and winds down. No more Christmas tv, the music on the radio switches over boxing day. What really got me excited though for next year that I cant wait for is 14 new boxes of outdoor Christmas lights. I couldnt say no to them at only 1.94 a box for a 21 foot strand of 25 lights. There the old fashioned ones so they go a lot farther on a tree if you know what I mean in comparison to LED's. I'm already planning in my head, the lighting for the house for next year. Ughhh, its soo far away though.

Bleech, I got to thinking today we have to go thru another long, hot, miserable summer before Christmas again. June, July and August go by SOOOOOOOO slow here..its just day after day after day of miserable heat. I love summer as long as I am by a water source but any other time it better be winter.

So much to look forward too, NOT! :x

I've got the blues a bit. It's the thought of taking the decorations down that's getting me. It's a shame next Christmas has to be so long away. Never mind, it'll come round again soon quick enough I'm sure :D

The local radio station here is still running their all holiday music sub station still, with I think, no commercial interruptions.....

I hate when they start taking Christmas music off the radio, stop showing Christmas episodes of prgrammes etc. It's really depressing. A few people in my area have already taken their decorations down. It's really sad :(

And I guess since I didnt have too much Christmas this year I dont have the day after blues.

That's kinda the way that I feel too. Since I was working Christmas seems to have come and gone without me. And I will add that I hate that the Christmas music is gone!! At midnight on the 26th, all of the radio stations here switched back to regular programming. What a shock to the system! Thank goodness I still have my Christmas cds!!!

The tree has just come down and out to go to the landfill and all of my decorations are put away. I'm gonna miss the tree but not the needles that had begun to fall out on a regular basis. Plus some of the ornies had started to fall off since the branches were drooping.

When the clock strikes midnight & I see that it is December 26th I am always sad!

I look forward to Christmas so much & I remember when I was a kid I used to repeat myself over & over again saying"Christmas is never gonna get here"and every year it came & as fast as it came it went.....I always get sad!

I miss hearing the Christmas music on the radio & do not look forward to packing all the decorations up....but what can ya do?!

I am though already making plans for next year lol & I look forward to posting with all of you and awaiting the arrival of Christmas time again!

On a differant note even though January is pretty boring at least my birthday is on the 21st lol!

Happy New Year all & God Bless!

Bring it on!!! It is so warm here today I have my windows open.

What is it about Jan. birthdays? My little sisters is the 11th, my ex-mother and father in laws are in Jan...the 11th and 13th. My ex husbands is the 16th and my ex bil is the 14th. My stepmom's is the 9th and my great aunt was the 1st. I used to gripe that I had to spend more and buy more gifts in Jan than Dec.

And BF starts it all over again with his being Feb 1st!!!

So...today was the day my family (mom, sister and I) were finally able to set aside the time to de-Christmas the house. We took the tree, that had stood bare in our living room for five days, down. My beloved Christmas village was carefully packed away and stored in the attic...all the decorations, nutcrackers, garlands, wreaths, lights and stockings were taken away and put in the dark attic. Looking at the living room, the only sign that Christmas was ever there is the lonely forgotten pine needle laying in the corner of the room where a 10 foot fraizer fur once stood...it makes me so sad...the 12th day of Christmas is over which means Christmas is officially over....*sigh*

I was watching the NFL playoffs today, and NBC had Bob Costas in NYC at Rockefeller Center...and the tree and all of the Christmas displays of New York were still up...I wonder how long they stay there?

See you in about 351 days...

Girl, I hope you get that straigtened out soon! Nothing like BP making you feel dizzy/woozy and all over terrible. I had issues with mine years ago but found out the problem was caffeine related and when I stopped drinking it the BP went back to normal.

Get better soon!!!

Well it's not narrowed down for me but I know it's not caffeine. I don't drink coffee, never did. I don't drink sodas with caffeine. I've never been addicted to it as far as I know. Anyway the BP is just all over the place right now.

8-)  my cousin basically had the same reaction!

my hubby and I don't mind :) it's a small fiber optic tree and some white garland on windows. and christmas houses on a ledge over the sliding door. and a half basket of poinsetta on a landing wall.

(in my defense... I store this stuff in my sewing room (which is torn apart right now) and I need to get rid of stuff before I can store that) so maybe by Valentines day :) :)

HolyNight7

I actually bought 2 artificial poinsetta plants this year. I left them up. It has finally gotten a little chilly here and were expecting more chilly weather so it feels more festive even though the holidays are over. I've been listening to a radio station on real rhapsody called Silent Night. It's like fireside music. It's all classical some of it recognizable Christmas music and some not. It's very calming.

It's really good to see people posting again. I wouldn't say I have the blues, or even that I really got them this season. It's always kind of a bummer to see the holiday pass, but in less than nine months we'll probably all be starting all over again.

HolyNight, I hope you get better soon. I know first hand the way blood pressure can affect your daily routine.
