We used to leave out some sugar until my children read on SantaUpdate.com that they prefer carrots or vegetables. Then we started leaving out carrots.

You can't forget the reindeer! I mean, they are the ones flying... so usually i'll set out carrots or apples.

We leave carrots in the house for the reindeer and outside so they can find their way, we sprinkle "reindeer food" (the oatmeal/sugar and glitter mix)

Well,
I never tried that
but maybe I'll try it this year...
I know around my neighborhood, there are a lot of deers (I wish reindeers) but deers are enough for me.

We are lucky, we have a lot of wildlife in our area. We've seen whitetail deer, blue herons, rabbits and pheasants (to name a few). I love where we live.

I generally don't leave out Reindeer food. But after looking thru this post I guess I need to.

:rudolph:Here in England me and my son sprinkle reindeer food (made by me out of porridge oats and glitter!) on the grass and leave carrots for them to eat! The idea is that the reindeer food will lure them to our house (hee hee) then Father Christmas will leave lots of prezzies then the reindeer gets a treat of carrot after!

We always leave out carrots - good for their teeth and it helps them see in the dark!! With the carrots and Rudolph's nose, there's no excuse for getting lost!!
Santa gets a sandwich because he gets cookies everywhere else (it's a fine line!) but a couple of years ago he was so full, he only ate one half and drank only half the milk. He did leave a letter apologising though!!
Shame he forgot to leave one the next year when he tracked soot and leaves into the living room!!!!!!!!

Santa rarely ever finishes my cookies... theres always like, two cookies eaten and a bite out of another...
But back to the subject...
It's usually Apples or carrots...
(But i do like your carrot theory Maureen)

We have no reindeer here where I live but when my daughter leaves cookies for Santa she also puts a carrot on the plate for Rudolph.
