View Full Version : Reintroducing myself

JayIsh

I'm JayIsh from New Jersey. A huge fan of all things Christmas, especially the music. I listen to it all year long. I'm a member of two other Christmas forums, most recently thexmasplace.com.

I'm branching out some...Looking for a new adventure in internet Christmas. I've always enjoyed it here, so I think I'll stick around a while.

This site is INCREDIBLE...the amount of information on all topics, even topics I hadn't thought of yet is unbeatable...I feel at home already.

I've been a member here for quite a while but only lately have I started to drop by regularly...Mostly I was a lurker until now...So...Hi!

I wish Cartoon Network hadn't stopped showing all the good old cartoons. My cable provider doesn't even offer Boomerang. :-?

dvdguy
06-13-2007, 10:09 AM
Boomerang gets old. Alot of stuff is shown over & over

dominick
06-13-2007, 10:11 AM
I can handle that with old cartoons.

they run boomerang zoo at 11 in the morning, has all those, yogi squidley huckleberry etc
course you can get most of them on dvd now too

dominick
06-13-2007, 10:18 AM
I'd love to have them, but something makes me refuse to pay so much money for something I used to watch hours on end for free.

dvdguy
06-13-2007, 10:21 AM
the irony there is Im paying to watch them on boomerang:-?

dominick

True...

dvdguy
06-13-2007, 10:30 AM
& I bought some of the dvds

dominick
06-13-2007, 10:33 AM
Usually if I wait long enough, they'll come down in price. Like the Rocky Anthology was originally like $65, and I just picked it up for $20 at Target a couple weeks ago. The Looney Toons, Hanna-Barbera, and other sets don't seem to ever drop, though.

dvdguy
06-13-2007, 10:39 AM
You have a Sams club? I got some HB sets ther for like 20 bucks. Bugs & friends you might have to check ebay. or amazon. If you like tom & jerry you can probably get the spotlight collections for them cheap. Just make sure you get those & not the single disc ones, not really worth it

dominick
06-13-2007, 10:44 AM
We do, but I let my membership lapse. We only have one in this area, and it was a real pain to shop there. You couldn't get out of there in under an hour and a half.

dvdguy
06-13-2007, 10:51 AM
bleah
well amazon & ebay are your best bets. or walmart, sometimes they mark the older stuff down when the new comes out. Target too, but they dont always carry a big selection of those sets

dominick
06-13-2007, 10:55 AM
I shop at Target on a weekly basis. I've never seen them mark down any of the Looney Toons stuff, and they don't really have anything else of interest.

dvdguy
06-13-2007, 10:57 AM
new looney tunes is coming, nov. i think. thats the best time to check

dvdguy
06-13-2007, 10:58 AM
dvd is the best bet, cause they're not chopped up

dominick
06-13-2007, 10:58 AM
You'll have to remind me in November. I can't plan my day out past noon.

dvdguy
06-13-2007, 10:59 AM
hmmm speaking of which, its noon. Wife should be one her way home for lunch

dvdguy
06-13-2007, 11:06 AM
pretty much par for the course around here. Around Christmas last year every topic wound up being about eggnog eventually

dominick
06-13-2007, 11:09 AM
That sounds like some deep rooted psychological issue.

dvdguy
06-13-2007, 11:26 AM
yes what would Freud say about that?

06-13-2007, 11:28 AM
Probably nothing. It's not nearly perverse enough.

Merry Sage
06-13-2007, 11:33 AM

He'd say "pass the nog". What else. cheesy

JayIsh

dominick
06-13-2007, 12:07 PM
Those "in the know" don't call it Frisbee golf anymore. I got a good lecture on that about a month and a half ago when I played my first game!

JayIsh
06-13-2007, 12:08 PM
Why? Has Frisbee became politically incorrect? I'm gonna start a web site (like that knucklehead and his anti Christmas web site) based on the evils of the Frisbee...Toy of the Devil, it is! Played by heathens and hellions everywhere!

dominick
06-13-2007, 12:10 PM
No, it's just that Frisbee is a registered trademark of Wham-O, and most people don't play with their products. The name Frisbee is generally understood to be a "catch disc" instead of a golf disc.

First let me say, Hello again, Giant Jay!

Second, it's all RJD's fault for having Muttley in his signature. Gosh I remember those early family vacations and we played Wacky Races one time all the way to Florida with a stop-over in Pennsylvania. Why did I always have to be Penelope Pit Stop!

See - RJD's fault plain and simple. If the eight or so pages had been about eggnog (strictly), well we'd know who to blame that one on.

Thirdly, y'all would have loved the Merry Melodies Anniversary Edition book I picked up for my dad a few years ago for Father's Day. Had plenty of your favourite cartoon celebs in there.
Hannababarra provided quite a bit of entertainment in my home - a bit of slugging it out for control over the dial (in those days there were no remotes).

Fourthly, RJD is the quickest music locator on the web!

Fifthly - back to welcoming JayIsh home again.

A song for Jay!
The way you wear your hat; (it would have to be a large one)
The way you sip your tea; (no!no! it's coffee)
The memory of all that. (and so much more)
No, no, they can't take that away from me. (or thee)
The way your smile just beams; (and you share your Christmas dreams)
The way you sing off key; (and dance in frilly things - huh?)
The way you haunt my dreams. (only at Halloween)
No, no, they can't take that away from me. (and you can't edit this post from me)

So make yourself comfy and I'm sure somehow I spun this thing back to you.

JayIsh
07-08-2007, 09:10 PM
Well it is, afterall, all about me...As I've said before...I may not be much, but I'm all I ever think about...Not really..I'm really very giving...or is that taking...I always get those mixed up...

Death to the frisbee and those evil folks at Whamo...Wouldn't that make a great name for an airline??? I stole that from Jay Leno...But then...Maybe I am Jay Leno!!!

Anybody see my pecan log role from Stucky's??? It's gotta be around here somewhere...stuck to something....
