I am new to this forum or any forum! I love all things Christmas, particularly the ornaments. I bought my very first ornament in 1974 and paid $6.00. I thought that I had spent a fortune. I have asked for Christmas ornaments for my birthday and anniversary presents from family and friends. I can be down in the dumps and go read about, play with, or look online at anything to do with Christmas, and I will get in a better mood every time! My husband is wonderful about my "hobby". I have a German Shepherd named Heidi and a golden retriever named Noel who are pretty good about not breaking anything. We have had them for seven years and have only lost one ornament. I have to admit that a few of the ornaments have some "gentle" teeth marks from when they were puppies. I am looking forward to the forum!

Glad to have you here. What kind of ornament did you buy back in '74 for $6?

It was an extra large Victorian Santa Claus decopage (SP?) ball. I bought it from a local department store in Austin, Texas. I still live near Austin. I have just started an excel spreadsheet to inventory all of my Christmas "stuff".

Welcome!
I, too, love Christmas ornaments. Hubby says if I get anymore our tree will fall from the weight. I guess it is time for a bigger tree. LOL!
Glad you are here!:tree:

Thank you for the welcome!!! I have all kinds of ornaments. Unfortunately, I have never inherited any ornaments, I had to start from zero. I first started buying Hallmark ornaments for $1 or 2 in February or March. My first set of ornaments was a roll of red velvet ribbon made into bows because I could not afford anything else but that was back in 1973. I guess my very favorite is the glass ornaments because that is what I remember from being a little girl in the 50's. I do not have a theme, I tend to change every year. My hubby likes the ornaments all mixed up. What about you? What is your favorite ornament or decoration?

Thanks for the Welcome!! What are your favorite ornaments? Don't do what I did, I got a tree that was 10 feet high and then we moved to a house that has eight foot ceilings!! Of course, I had to get another tree! I even decorate my department at work with a tree, ornaments, and everything else. Christmas just gets in your blood!!
