Anyone out there love the Carpenters' Christmas music? I love their CD! We listen to it every time we decorate the tree.

It is a favoorite at my house too. My mama has the "giant black cd" and something about hearing that old thing scratch as it plays is one of my favorite christmas memories.

I wish they would release their 1977 & 1978 Christmas Specials on DVD ala Johnny Cash, Sonny & Cher and so on.

Oh well... I found someone selling uh... 'unauthorized' versions of the 1977 & 1978 TV specials and took the plunge and purchased them. I'm sure the quality will be shoddy but it's better than nothing. If they ever release official versions I'll be right there to buy them.

The Carpenter's Christmas album has been a tradition in my family since I was a kid that I plan to continue. My mother used to play it on vinyl and it would skip at the same part everytime. We would play it so much that now when I play it on my IPOD and that particular part comes on my adult siblings and I will sing the skipping as a time honored tradition. It gives us such a laugh.

It is a tradition in our house as well. I think that Karen Carpenter has one those voices that just moves you. Especially with her Christmas music.

Used to play my 8tracks as a kid and fell in love with her voice.

To me the best female voice iever s Karen and best male voice ever is Bing.

I drive my wife nuts with the Carpenters Christmas!

I got my dvds on Saturday.
1977 looks really bad (quality wise), but it will have to do until a better version is released or comes along.
1978 looks pretty good.
But they both look so incredibly cheezy... and I mean that in a good 1970's way.
I'm looking forward to subjecting my wife to them when Christmas draws a bit closer.

BTW, if anyone would like copies... feel free to send me a PM... they would not be for sale... just gifts for those who long for those good old bad 70s holiday variety show TV days.
