I am an Agnostic, however I love Christmas. I say have a Merry Christmas not Happy Holidays. There is something about Christmas that just makes me happy. I don't know if it has anything to do with childhood or what, but I look forward to Christmas all year round.

There are, actually, many who feel the way you do. It shouldn't really matter how you celebrate Christmas. Obviously, it has a personal significance in your life and from it you have derived joy. I think the message of "peace on Earth and goodwill to all men" is one anyone can embrace.

There seems a magic in the very name name of Christmas. ~Charles Dickens

Happy Holidays, Season's Greetings sound so uptight. Merry Christmas has that magical ability to make everyone smile and forget about being angry. Saying Merry Christmas is infectious.

Im sorry, but during the Christmas season, i say Merry Christmas. If I KNOW for a fact someone is Jewish and is celebrating Hannakuh I will say Happy Hannakuh. WHn you say Happy Holidays, its just basically saying, "I dont care to share with you the joy of the season that I celebrate, nor do I care to know what you celebrate." well thats how I see it anyway. Why should Christmas get kicked to the curb all the time? Retailers use it to make money, Charities practically use the generosity of the season *think three kings who traveled for days to give gifts to a child* yet refuse to acknowlege Christmas! And then there is SAnta Claus! Hello, the man is literally a saint! A saint. That means holy man!! So no matter how much they try to keep the CHRIST out of Christmas, they never can!! So I say Merry Christmas, and I will continue to do so!! The next thing you know, it wont matter what you say, because they will change it to Merry Happy Christmahannawannza day...or something of that nature. It doesnt matter what you celebrate or how you celebrate it, its a season, of love, happiness, generosity, togetherness and thankfulness, it doesnt matter what you call it, as long as your heart is in it!
So Merry Merry Merry Christmas everyone!!! *i know its early* lol..But I had to throw that in there!

I still dont get it. I dont think I ever will. I mean its a war on christmas...but who is fighting it? No me, certainly not the wondrful people on this forum...then who? People who arent happy with anything that they feel the need to take happiness away from others? Its a very select few who are doing this, yet somehow they are making the news and the gossip channels, I think we should wage a war on CHristmas..a War of Peace...and christmas trees. Yea, thats what I think!

the problem is these people are in the minority, but everyone caters to them because they make the biggest fuss

I, too, am a non-believer and was delighted to read Billy's thread. I have adored Christmas all my life - my parents went out of their way to make it special for me, I hope I succeeded in making it equally special for my husband (whose family belong to a religion which does not celebrate Christmas) and for my son. I get enormous pleasure from the lights, the music, the decorations, MY TREE (!!! can't wait until 'Tree Day' - 16 weeks, 3 days and counting!) but most of all from that special something in the air which even Scrooges and naysayers can feel when December rolls round. You can say what you like, the world is a slightly different during the season!

I'm glad you found the thread delightful. I do not really consider myself as a non-believer, even though a lot of people probably do. I am an Agnostic in every sense of the word. I believe it was Socrates who said "I know I am smart because I know I know nothing.
