Hey Crownster!
Bix is great! He went to the beauty salon yesterday and got his elegant seasonal do! What has that super Fox been up to?
Now that we can post pictures, why not start your 'buds and blossoms' thread...I could take some of Macy's but I swear they just put up the same display they had last year, nothing fresh.

Thanks for the java and the wb's. Yes the autumn colors are great, didn't realize how my vision was dimming. I also didn't know how much smaller I was seeing things all my life with those glasses. Now things are bigger and beautifuller. We most things, time to diet. lol
I didn't realize I was using the biggest cup of coffee around either. My coffee mug is huge wonder if I should trade it in for a smaller one. Oh my, what am I saying, shut my mouth. I like the mug I have, mmmmmmmmmmm just right. hee hee.

Ohhhhh Renn! Keep those eyes wide open now!

Auntie!!! I LOVE the pictures!!! You have real talent!
Cedar...Is hay mold anything like Jello mold?
Always thought that the words "Jello Mold" were somewhat disgusting!!!
I went to church last night...And by that I mean the church of Bruce Springsteen...There is nothin' like seeing Bruce Springsteen sing Born to Run in New Jersey...At 58, he ain't slowed a bit...No four hour shows like the days of old but a real solid quality 2-1/2 hours!!! He's headin' all over the country, and the world...See him if you can!!!

HAY!!! It's JAY!!! Wow! You saw BRUCCCEEEE? Wait until the Bingster hears that.
Crown, I got alot of technical help from Dominick, he was very helpful.
Basically, you go to the thumbnail page (PhotoBucket), and copy the address and tags of the IMG Code- in the box to the right of your photo, paste it in your message. The photo will come up. But, now that I think about it, nobody said anything about the Santa photo, so maybe I did something wrong..!

Wake up!
It's a Fabulous Fair Friday, Folks!
Crisp! The temp was only 51 when I got up this morning.
The high should be about 70. Beautiful!
My father is out of town for a couple of days, so I drove over to his place to walk Fox. He was invigorated by the chilly air!
(Feels good to him with all that fur to carry around.)
We will be going to the Fair tomorrow morning. I can't wait!
No, Cedar. I see no photos at all in your post. Not even a link.
I tried the procedure you detailed but also got no photo image.
Have a Fabulous Friday, guys!

Yes, 'too cool' is right. Woke up to a 36 chilly degrees! So you had to take the super FOX for a brisk walk? Aww. You know what Crown...when we figure out this photo mystery, you HAVE to show some pictures of FOX. He is a beautiful sheltie...BIX would love him.
Have a groovy Friday, a groovy Saturday and...well, a groovy Sunday too! (Can you really have a groovy Sunday?) Can't wait to hear all about the fired twinkies, the fair... and those bluegrass shispering pines.

~ Binger & JayIsh - my husband almost got to go to the concert in Ottawa this Sunday, but we're picking up my parents at the airport in Toronto. He's a little "bumbed out" because he wanted me to go, he's seen Bruce before, but he still listens. Wouldn't we be a sight to see if we were out browsing and shopping together. You'd be sniffing old books (always reminded me of plastersine) and I'd be sniffing Scotch Tape. Not too mention waking up and smelling the coffee. Oh yeah, we'd turn a few heads.
By the way, I saw the photo you inserted, but I only commented on it in my sleep I guess. Very cute.

73 days to Christmas Day.
(The Season arrives one month from today!)
A chilly Good Morning to one and all.

Auntie!! You saw the Santa Photo? Well I'll be...then it DID show up!...Crown, did you hear that? Thanks for mentioning it Auntie.
Oh yeah, I'm a Scotch Tape sniffer from way back. And Crayola Crayons..but books..ahhhh, old books, I just can't stop myself from sniffing them, even in public. There, I admitted it. ~Auntie, I have an old book called, "Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens" by J.M.Barrie, it is red cloth with gold print, the pages are so old and looks like homemade paper, uneven and ragged edges. Very thin sheets of tissue paper between the illustrations, the spine looks like it was hand sewn! It is among my most treasured things...but the best part of it is the smell! I put the book out with my other old Christmas decorations because it is that old red color and looks so pretty with a sprig of holly laying on it.
Hmmmm, eggnog sounds just right!

I miss Norfolk..hope the sun is shining and the pines are shispering...
Hey Crown!
Did you eat a fired twinkie at the Fair today? Tell us all about it!
It is a chilly 50 degrees, but the sun is out and the gold leaves are steadily falling off the maples landing in the spruce and fir trees making them look like decorated Christmas trees!
:treeguy:
Crown 84
10-14-2007, 08:45 AM
Nope. No fired twinkie this year.
But shared a tasty funnel cake with the other assorted Crowns.
By the way, Carl will be at the Fair all week. After he helped set up, he got a job giving camel rides to the kids. Naturally with his unique appearance and talents, he is one of the hits of the Fair. (In fact , I am a bit worried he might like it so much, he will stay with the side shows when they move on to the next city after their run here concludes at the end of next week. I would miss Carl but it would be a nice opportunity for him.)
30 days to the Season.
72 days to Christmas Day.
Another crisp one this morning, with the old mercury standing at 50 here in Raleigh at this hour. Seventy-Seven is the predicted high for today.
Crabtree Mall is getting Christmassier and Christmassier!
Belks, Macys and Sears all have their Christmas merchandise out now.
Walmart has their Christmas section all stocked.
The mall itself will probably start decorating by the end of next week.
It's getting to be that time of the year isn't it!!
Have a Super Sunday, everyone!

29 days to the Season.
71 days to Christmas Day.
(Closing in on the season! We are down into the 20's!)
It was 51 on my thermometer this morning.
We should reach the upper 70's today.
Since the humidity will be low, it promises to be a nice one.

I agree with everyone else, I don't see any pictures, and yes the season is getting sssoooooo close. I'm just about done planning the outside decorations, simple white lights this year.
72 degrees and light rain here. (Yuk)

We have Days 2 and 1 (Nov 11 and 12) open for volunteers.

I've been doing a lot of things already to get in the spirit. I bought some Christmas books online and I requested some CDs from my library to check out. I've listened to Christmas Broadband a couple of times. And the piece de resistance--I bought "The House without a Christmas Tree" online the other day! One of my most favorite Christmas movies and books are these about Addie Mills. I can't wait until it comes!
I've had my Christmas planner ready for a few weeks now. I printed the pages off Organized Christmas.com and put them in a clear/frosted 3 ring binder with dividers. I used different color Sharpie markers to stencil Christmas designs on each divider and I colored the title page in as well. It shows through the cover of the binder. It is so cute! I know, I know--I'm a Christmas geek! What can I say?
Another thing I like to do when I start feeling the spirit is to watch the movie "Little Women", both the Elizabeth Taylor version from the forties and the Winona Ryder version from 1990s. It has just enough Christmas in it for a fix. I just have always associated the story with Christmas.
Well, it's great to be here among fellow Christmas fanatics!
Take care.:hello:

Day 3 (Nov 10) = Crown.
Day 2 (Nov 11) = Jay.

It's a wonderful, walkable 65 degrees outside.
We've just come off 2 days of rain to ease the drought a bit and now a great, low humidity, mid-to-upper 70's weekend is predicted. (I think we will go the the Fair again!)
Have a Stupendous Saturday in whatever you do today, friends!
(Was too busy yesterday to get out to Crabtree to snap some early Christmas decoration photos but will try to get out th ere some time this weekend)

Right back at you, Christmas soul-sister!
Just got back from the Mall and boy are my eyes sore. Yup - not an abundance, but Christmas items are popping up here and there enough to turn my head once or twice.
Not permitted to shop with my husband anymore. He can't handle how everything I see could be "the perfect gift" for someone on our list.
Tis the season to eat apples - yummy yum yum! Ontario apples are soooo good this time of year. I start eating them in September and they're good until mid-November and then it doesn't really matter where they come from.
I was twelve when I whipped up my first batch of homemade applesauce. I also remember the first carmel apples I made a few months later. They taste great just by themselves. My dad used to eat them with a salt shaker in hand and a steak knife to peel them and a slice of cheese on the side.
Do children still give apples to their teachers? I usually ate the apple before it made it to the desk.

:-? I could never sleep after eating an apple - sugar rush. However, Crown is a different sort - likely would dream about sleeping in an orchard while visions of mattresses dance in their heads.
Nice and sunny here today - the rain has stopped. It's around 70F out there.
Silla gets wine instead of apples? Must be more grape orchards than apple orchards where you dwell. Haha.

Hmmm.... I picture a hammock slung between 2 apple trees. I am relaxing in it while I watch Binger furiously grinding coffee beans with an old fashioned coffee grinder. The wind gently blows through the shispering orchard. I drift off to sleep. In my dreams, Binger comes to me with a platter of fired twinkies. Ah!.............

It's just starting to really get me into the Holiday mood.

22 days to the Season.
64 days to Christmas Day.
Good Morning, guys!
I hope everyone had a great weekend and is ready to move yet another week close to that certain Season that has us all here.
It was 58 degrees for the morning commute.
Highs predicted in the low 80's with low humidity.
About as good as you can expect around here for this time of the year.
I got out to Crabtree and took some Christmas photos yesterday! Will try to post them as soon as I get the opportunity.
The main mall decorations are already being put up (same ones as last year but they are good ones) but are not yet lit. More and more of the stores are getting out Christmas merchandise and decorations.
Yes, sir it is definitely getting to THAT time of the year again!
Have a Marvelous Monday, everyone!

Miller,
I lost the weight over the course of about three months. The reason the diet is hard is that there is ALOT of preparation involved, plus I LOVE sweets...And there are none of them allowed at all during the first two weeks, limited during the second two weeks and then small amounts during the third two weeks...I lose weight fairly easily...It took about three years for me to gain it back...But with Christmas so close now, it'll be tough to stick to it with everyone bringing Christmas cookies, etc. to the office...
Happy Monday my friends...It's getting to the time when I'lll leave home in the morning in the dark, and get back home at night in the dark...I'll only see my yard in the daylight on weekends...

:hello: Hello Christmas lovers!
Got a short story to share (no really, this one is short).
My husband and my father share the same birthday and we were unable to celebrate them together until lastnight.
I thought I wrapped my dad's gift when I secretly wrapped up my husbands gifts (he received his gifts from me on his birthday). So we're just about heading out the door (I had to go to work for a few hours - on a Sunday) when I went into the walk-in closet to retrieve my father's gift only discover it wasn't wrapped.
Uhoh . . . so I searched around. I didn't have time to wrap it with paper. Had to find a gift bag. Well, the birthday ones I have on hand (storage container full) were too small to hold such a large book (The Book of Life 70th Anniversary Edition - kind of fitting since my father turned 70 - shhh don't tell him - he doesn't care for the sound of it). Then I found the perfect bag, although it was in my Christmas gift bag container. Tissue paper - no problem, Scotch tape - plenty. Uh-oh cards were never signed. Whipped them out to the "waiting" husband to quickly sign his and I signed mine.
Then we were off. Honestly, my husband didn't notice the prints on the gift bag or he just didn't say.
I know this seems long, but trust me - it's short.
So we get to my parents place and visit (nice visit) have a delicious pork roast ($25.00 for 2.5lbs - it better have been good) and diced vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. There was Oreo cookie log cake from a local grocer - dad did yard work instead of making a cheesecake - I just had some strawberries . . .
So it's time for presents.
My parents ran out of gift bags too. My husband's gift was in a Christmas bag with an Angel and see-through paper with a slight gold-rust tinge to it.
My father's gift was in a large Christmas bag with a nut-brown background with gingerbread men, snowmen and candy canes on it.
So there you have it. The story of how two wonderful men received birthday presents in October that were hidden inside Christmas Gift Bags.
And that's the short version of my story.

The weekend of my sons and his daughters wedding a few the 23rd of Sept his caretaker in Hawaii called him and told him that they were harvesting the coffee beans and what to do with them when they were all done. He has a special blend that they do. He said to ship them to Sitka for his new restaurant that he is building at the new golf course that he was building. That should be enough to supply the place with gormet coffee for the year. Sniff sniff, I think he should have sent me a taste dont you. AUNTIE!!!!
If that's the "Short Version"...I request the long version!!! You are such an entertainer, such a writer. Yeah Auntie! YEAH!! You go soul woman.
cheesy Be careful what you wish for . . .
The extended version cometh . . .
Let me start by admitting I made a mistake in my short version when I said our gift to my dad was The Book of Life - Nah - it was Life's 70th Anniversary Edition. Not only was it appropriate because he turned 70 (remember not to tell him I told you if you ever bump into him), over the years we acquired several special editions. Life Goes to the Movies, and a few anniversary editions. For Mother's Day one year, my mom receive Life with Mother and naturally my father receive Life with Father. It so happens that their 60th Anniversary edition got damaged and moldy from a sewage back-up in their basement. (What it was doing down there I cannot say - it belonged on one of their three book shelves. Think his old Pogo books had to bit the world buh-bye too. Sure hope they moved all the old vinyls up to the guest room closet. My mom doesn't usually thank me for my father's birthday gifts (she made a point of saying so), but she thanked me for the book because she'll enjoy it too - especially since the other one was damaged.
Oh, and my husband received a $50.00 gift card for Sears Portrait Studios so we can get our portrait taken - never done that.
Okay - you know why right? My other seldom used username is CameraShyLass and my husband is HidingInAnotherRoomWhenPicturesAreBeingTakenLad.
... There you go, dear!
~ Not surprised Carl was insulted, Crown - everywhere he goes he's treated like a Royal Camel.
~ Binger - I can almost write that next Opera for you - but alas, I'll leave it up to you.
I was thinking of going out for Halloween as a Jello-Mold, but JayIsh wants to wear that costume so I think I'll be a Jack-in-the-box instead. Those things used to scare me when I was little. Hmmm. Reminder to self - have a dentist appointment in the morning. Oh well - they'll have to send me to the "big chair, I guess". HaHa.

Must have been eerie, Cedar! I ran into a pack of wild street dogs going to work one morning. Thankfully they were more interested in heading to the park than they were in chasing me.
Too bad about your children losing things - were they lost or stolen, Sila? They need deeper pockets to carry things in so they don't slip out.
Crown tell Carl that O'Malley the cat was asking about him the other day. He said, Merawwwwwwh Caaaaaarl. I'm sure of it.
:hello: I found a penny and picked it up. Almost got hit by a car. How lucky is that? Think I'll nonchanlantly drop the penny so someone else can pick it up - not my kind of good luck penny.
Went shopping with my husband after I worked out at the gym.
Ughhhh! We can't shop together. He can't relax and just browse. He's on a mission and that's it. When I used to go shopping for those last few Christmas items, he waits in the restaurant or coffee shop while I eye-shop and then I fetch him to agree to what I'm getting before I buy it. The last couple of years, I just did it on my own because I take too long to decide.
He discovered my trick. When I go with a list and I find something I want that's not on the list, I borrow a pen at the checkout and add the item. Different colours of ink have foiled an otherwise well planned shopping adventure.
Enjoy your Sunday!
good morning everyone hope you are all in a fun festive mood today xxxxx

A very nippy 53 outside this morning. And they say we could be down into the mid 30's by Tuesday morning. Brrrr! (yet more seasonal)
Took some more Christmas photos at the mall yesterday and will be posting them into my Christmas Photos 2007 thread, shortly.

Well actually - :? I was a little grumpy after waking up from a baaaaaaad dream so awful I had my teeth clenched and my jaw was aching - I can't be held responsible for post-penny-pickup-nightmares ... can I?
I still have the penny. So rest easy folks, I'm still the same charming Auntie y'all know.
It was about 37 F here this morning, warmed up somewhat sitting at about 46 now. A little nippy. Sun is shining though so all is good.
Speaking of photos, I have another slideshow for those interested. Pics were resized before loading so dial-up users should be able to enjoy them in a timely fashion.
I like this one better than the last one. These pics were taken about an hour and a half drive from where I live. You'll be wishing you were there or feeling like you are.

Just click on the log cabin and enjoy the North Autumn shots up HWY 11 North.
I'm going to have a wee nap, I think, I'm still tired from the spooky wake-up I had in the middle of the night.

Good Morning Everyone !
It's another beautiful day here . . . . . at about 45 degrees. I got an interesting phone call yesterday. My mother, Grandma Eagle, called and asked when I'm going to put up her Christmas tree ??? I answered, whenever you like. She said, come over Wednesday morning. On Halloween ?? She said, why wait, at 87 yrs old I can be a little eccentric (?). So I guess she'll have the first tree up in the family. Maybe first in her town. Anyone else have their tree up yet ??? All this from someone that used to kid me about putting my decorations up early. She beat me this year.

:treeguy: ToWitToWitToWhooooo! How do ya' do Christmas Lovers?
This weekend there are a few Christmas Craft and Artisan Shows in my "neck of the woods". Looking forward to a Merry little browse. Might pick up a gift or two.
I love looking at all the stuff, listening to Christmas tunes and chatting with some of the artisans.
Two weeks from now is our town's Santa Claus Parade and the following weekend is the Santa Claus Express where the children board a train here and head off to the North Pole (two hour train ride - didn't realize it was so close) and return after picking up Santa.
I always do some Christmas shopping that day so I can see all the "awe-struck" faces coming off the train looking for their parents. (No adults allowed on board.)
 Am I really the first one in the coutndown today? Where'd everybody go?
Is there eggnog on sale somewhere? Am I missing some specials on TV?

Been busier than a beaver in a coffee lake! I leave the house early, get home late, have one beer and recline...get up and do it all over again! I've missed you and know that you are always on my mind, wherever I go. Crownster, I just loved your poem this morning, my clever friend...almost brought a tear to my eye. To think you woke up and wrote that after only 19 hours of sleep....baddabing! Ohhhh the wonderful scary classical music they are playing on my local NPR station...just heard the theme from "Alfred Hitchcock"! It looks like rain this afternoon, into the evening...poor kids have to cover up their costumes with raincoats!

If you have cable or satelite check your listings for music channels and find your holiday station and start enjoying the music. A mere 16 days till it starts being played on the radio. Well, I apologize. Must have been hit by those flying coffee beans too hard yesterday or maybe I just haven't been getting enough sleep (<< "Yeah, right", says Carl >>). Anyway, I neglected to post the count!
Of course, that means we get to see it drop by TWO steps today:
9 days to the Season. (SINGLE DIGITS ARE HERE!!)
51 days to Christmas Day.
A nippy/crispy/shispering/fired morning in Raleigh with the temp at 48. We should reach the mid to upper 60's today and 70 is promised for tomorrow.
Oh, Oh!
A problem has arisen for me.
As you might recall, we had been planning to go Emerald Isle to winterize our place last weekend but the weather kept us away. Looks like we will have a good opportunity to go over this weekend which means I will be away from the computer on Nov 10, the day I am scheduled to post the pre-season Day 3 message.
Possible solutions:
1) I could trade with either the Day 4 or the Day 1 posters as I would be here Friday and Monday mornings.
2) I could post on Day 5 (Nov eighth, thereby extending the messages to five and allowing a 5th person to post for Day 3.
3) I could PM my Day 3 message to a board memeber and request they post it on Nov 10 on my behalf.
4) I could skip this year and turn Day 3 over to someone else. (I do have my Day 3 post already typed, but could just save it for next year.)
Am open to any option (or other proposals).
What do you think?
Have a Super Sunday, friends!
hi all missed ya earlier xxxxxxxx

Hello my good friends! My ears are ringing and there is huge smile on my face...The Van Halen boys are back and better than EVER...The best two hours of rock I've seen in years...If you get the chance...Go!!! You won't be disappointed...Diamond Dave has still got it and Eddie is sober and rocking with a capitol ROCKING...My wife saw Bon Jovi last week...She's a huge Jovi fan...But she said that VH was much better, a win for me!!! Now if I can just get her to change her mind about Bruce Springsteen...
Crown!!! I, for one, was really looking forward to your post so I say do whatever is needed to get it posted!!! PM me, post it early, email it to me, whatever!!! I don't want to miss out! I'll switch if it helps but my day is Sunday the 11th so I think you'd still be away...Let me know how I can help!!!
Happy Sunday good buddies...Pour another cup of java, hear the shispering of the pines, fire up a twinkie...and maybe a little Christmas music...The season is almost upon us...Whahoo doray...Dahoo...Whatever...You get the point!!!

 Here I am, Cedar! Glad to see you return, we were about to send out a search party.
Crown - I'll switch my Day 1 for your Day 3 if you want - not a problem, mine is "good to go" anytime.
Lots of Rockin' fun in the world of our JayIsh of late - neato.
It's still cold at night and warm in the day here, no signs of snow, rain expected for tomorrow.
Hardly a hint of fireplaces in the air.
Went to the Mall yesterday and I'm happy to report the Christmas items are popping up everywhere.
Only recall one store playing Christmas music, I guess the rest are waiting a bit longer.
Last night I had a dream I was watching the Flintstones Christmas Carol - weird eh? Oh, I have it on video, but I haven't watched it in a longgggg time. Now I don't have to, the dream took care of that. HaHa.
Binger - I thought for sure, I'd take advantage of the extra hour of sleep, but it appears my body didn't feel like Falling Back just yet.

Hey AUNTIE!!!! I knew you'd visit if I wished hard enough!cheesy
~The only mall I went to today was an antique mall and they were having their annual November into Christmas Sunday. Popcorn, cider, (no beer though...) coffee, rice krispie treats, brownies, sugar cookies....all the sweet stuff. Didn't buy anything, but loved the festive mood there, people with Santa hats on and smiling like they were on the cover of the Rolling Stone.
Hey! Good idea Auntster, trade with Crownster...problem solved! YABBA!
Got my first Christmas card today, it warmed my heart!

hmmm or we could conduct the following scenario...
we take each of the four days of special posts and divide by 2 which gives us two- and then multiply it by two which gives us four and then Crown subtracts their hours of sleep and we are then in the negatives and already counting down to Christmas 2008 season and thus... Jay is able to post day 6 unless... no wait a minute I'm lost in the new math....

8 days to the Season.
50 days to Christmas Day.
Good Morning.
I hope it is a Marvelous Monday Morning (If such a thing is possible - I'm having computer problems at the office. Lucky I can get here at all! Don't know how long my connection will last so I'll type quickly.)
A chilly 39 this morning but at least my car windshield was frost-free.
Supposed to be 72 by this afternoon. I'll believe that when I see it!
Well, I guess it would work best for me if I switched with Jay.
We will be back from the coast late Sunday but that will not prevent me from posting before the end of the day so it will get the correct Nov 11 "Day 2" date.
Thanks, Jay! You will now be posting on Saturday, Nov 10, as "Day 3". Problem solved.
Another issue - do we want to post our special messages here, have a separate thread for all the pre-season posts together, or should each person post a separate thread?
Your thoughts?

That whole Binger-math has me a little confused...Not that confusing me is any great feat...But you get the idea...Hard to believe that we are as close as we are!!! Seems like alot less than a year ago that we were entering the season...Good Morning Cedar!!! Always a thrill to see you aboard!!! And a happy Monday to all!!! Spent yesterday listening to Christmas music as I did my chores...Made the whole thing alot more enjoyable!!!
