http://talkchristmas.com//images/smiles/icon_smile.gif Merry Greetings, everyone! I am AuntieMistletoeElf (a.k.a. Auntie Mistletoe/AuntieMistletoeDear - but you can call me Auntie M if you like) and I have always kept Christmas in my heart. I only got my first computer (used) five years ago (replaced it with a brand new one a year later) and discovered my first Christmas forum. I had no idea such places existed.

As some of you will recognize me, I look forward to getting to know those who are sharing the most wonderful time of the year with me for the first time. I wear a slightly different Christmas hat at each festive forum I visit, but in the end there's always a bit of nostalgia that follows me.

http://talkchristmas.com//images/smiles/icon_smile.gif For example:
I grew up loving Christmas and recall with ease (almost transporting myself back in time) to a beautifully decorate home, filled with the sounds, tastes and smells of Christmas.

We decorated our house inside and outside. Mom did a wonderful job dressing up the wrought iron railings with cedar or balsam boughs, silver mirrored beads and red velvet bows.

My dad was in charge of the tree, he was the tinsel King!

On Christmas Eve, my brothers and I hung up our stockings and Santa visited our house when we are asleep and left presents under our gigantic tree.

Of course we always left a special treat for Santa and his reindeer to give them fuel to continue their journey and to thank them for the surprises we were about to receive. As I grew older, I was concerned that Santa’s milk would get too warm and not taste good before he arrived so I left a note for him allowing him to help himself to a drink of anything in the fridge. Pepsi, milk, orange juice, beer or tomato juice. There was always a glass with a trickle of some kind of beverage beside the empty plate of cookies.

I recall for several Christmases how my brothers and I planned on sleeping in the “Puma Bed” with our sleeping bags or blankets and pillows so we could spy on Santa. We heard the news report that Santa was viewed flying toward the East Coast (NORAD Tracking, we actually had an underground complex here where they tracked Santa) and we would race upstairs to bed forgetting our plans to spy on him.

When we awoke the next morning we would see lots of presents under the tree and our stockings were filled with gifts.

Traditions and fellowship that accompany my Christmas memories have always outweighed the material gifts. I continue to enjoy Christmas celebrations, but always find myself reflecting on those earlier days when I was filled with "awe" and the "wonderment" of it all!

Festive Regards,
Auntie M.
