Do you do anything special for your Christmas table? Special table cloths/runners? Small foil decorations in the shape of stars etc.. Do you use candles, flowers etc.. for a centrepiece? Do you use paper or cotton napkins?
I'm thinking of having my favourite florist do a seasonal arrangement for me in silk and dried material that I can use again next year. I haven't any Christmas table linen so thats something I need to look into. I borrowed what I needed, year before last, but this year I want to buy my own things.

Heavens, I wish I could.
My dining room table is typically decorated with a feline centerpiece.
On Christmas day, a fresh Christmas tablecloth goes down no more than an hour before the meal is to be served. I have gold chargers that I use under my Christmas china, but that's about it.
I've never bothered with gorgeous table decorations because the food takes up all the room! Honest, turkey platters and family-size casserole dishes, and condiments barely leave room for folks to set their drinks down!
I think either need a bigger dining room table or a smaller extended family.

My table isn't large either, but I like simplicity so its going to be a festive cloth and a centrepiece, that will be removed if need be to make room for the grub!
I was just interested what everyone else does. I know we can't all be Martha Stewart. cheesy

i have several sets of holiday linens that rotate thru the holiday. they include cloth napkins. and i have several sets of holiday napkin rings. as for a centerpiece... almost never, mostly because there just isnt any room and the cloth napkins and rings and holiday china tend to be decoration enuf!

We go all out on our dining room table. It is oval shaped. We lay a hunter green table cloth over it, then an off white beautiful all lace table cloth over that. Hunter green cloth placemats, smaller gold place mats, with the china and hunter green goblets set out. The centerpiece is about 2 feel long and about a foot and a half tall, has 3 red candles, small pine cones, cinnamon sticks, red berries, and evergreen foliage in it.
All the food is set out on the bar countertop.

I usually decorate my table with the food.
