Here in good ol' CT it's actually getting pretty chilly in the mornings and night, we even started the fire once two weeks ago! Been about 40-60, then when it hits 11A-8P it heats up to 70-85. Best of both worlds? ;-)

Oh, I am so sick of this humidity... you sweat just opening up the front door...

ME!!!! Bring on the SNOW! I hate the heat and humidty. I'll take the cold over the heat and humdity anytime. It's suppose to be nice here this weekend. Highs in the upper 70's.

Dreaming about snow!!!!

Oh count me in! We haven't been in the triple digits, thank goodness, but we've been close to the 90's, and with 80 - 90+% humidity. I'm listening to Christmas CDs to try and keep cool! My husband hates the heat as much as I do, we always say if we retire, it's going to be in Alaska, not Arizona!

Oy! It's so hot and humid in my neck of the woods that it's like walking into a sauna every time you open your door to go outside. It's inhumane I tell ya!

So, I'm definitely ready for some cooler weather (please, no one throw this post up at me when I'm complaining about a recording breaking cold snap in the middle of January  ).

Bring on the cold and if someone doesn't want their snow you can give it to us please. This heat is unbearable! I commiserate with you guys in the south, it's worse there than here for once. But we all know that it could be worse you could have alot more rain........
Bring on the snow...l.

Everything but the trees are turning to Autumn here. Low 40's at night and low 70's during the day and it just keeps getting lower. We are expecting the first snowfall around mid to late September or so and I Can't wait!

Ohhhhhhh! I'm so jealous! I will take cold and snow anyday over what we have in Texas. 2 Seasons, hot & humid. When you open the front door, it feels like you opened the oven door. Some people say that if I lived up North I wouldn't want the snow. I've spent winters in Boston, Detroit, and I LOVED IT. I was in Salt Lake City (I'm envious of you too Jeff) for the World Fast Pitch Softball Tournament one summer and the thing I loved about the Northern Summer climate was that it was hot in the daytime; but for crying out loud, it knew when to turn itself off. The mornings were cool and the evenings were cool. In Texas you can walk out the door at 4 in the morning and it's hot and humid. I'll take the snow anyday.
Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow!

Storytime, I agree with you. After living in California and Arizona, it's the same here (kind of). I loved living in Illinois with the 4 seasons and the cool crisp air. We won't get that kind of weather for a while here in AZ. Maybe in November we will get the cooler weather. I always hope for alot of snow and never get that much.

I agree with you, chillywilly! I'm in AZ, so triple-digit temperatures are normal for this time of year, and even for the next month. In fact, our average daily high doesn't drop below 80 until November 2. We're planning to move back east next year. Until then, it's another HOT autumn and Christmas. People here love it. They say, "I'll take the heat over snow any day!" Not me...I can't wait to see snow again!!!

Do you even know how much i wish i was you right now? Are average lows right now are like in the uppers 60's to 70's. It's been well above average temps this august for a yearly averages. Anyways i can't wait till it snows. Yes we got teased last year. It was 39 for a high and we had snow 30 miles away and it just missed us. I really love when it's cold on christmas. But i live in kansas. Kansas weather is so retarted. The year before it was 60. Yes 60 degrees in december...that's how retarted kansas weather is.

Right about now it is freezing, I have the cold, it's been heating up a bit but this week it's all been rain rain rain, so I'd happily have hot weather & no cold but I can't help wishing it snowed down here! Cold weather is always made about 3 million times better with snow!

I think people long for what they don't get. It's like the grass is greener thing. Snow sounds like a good idea if you don't get much, but if you get a lot like here in MI than snow dosen't seem that magical.

I agree... sorta. I mean I lived in WV and man would it snow!! Of course it was pretty and fun at first, then it became a pain! We wouldn't see our grass for 2 weeks at a time! There was a 6ft tall snowdrift at the end of our driveway once, blocking us in till we had to shovel it away... it got really old really quick!!
And it would be like that all freaking winter! So I agree it looses it's luster after the first few weeks!

But, living in hot, humid, blazing, firey inferno, Texas for two years, has made me re-think the whole dealing with snow thing!
Ahhhh Imagine, in a perfect world, there would be only 2 seasons... it would be fall like weather all year, followed by a not too harsh winter, sprinkled with just the right amount of snow on Christmas for everybody!

Ok, that would be perfect for me anyway...

I love snow....when it's time!! Right now I am enjoying the heat. I love going to the lake & boating....I'm not ready to give that up for the cold just yet!!! BUT, I am inside in air conditioning everyday & that makes a huge difference. If I were outside working everyday, I probably would be saying "bring on the snow!!!!" Lol!! Once it starts getting cold, then I'll be ready for snow!!!

Well, we would see it after 2 weeks for a day or so, then it would snow on top of that... I don't mean it would completely melt off, we may just see a patch of green...

Snow looks dirty in the city after just a day or two... out in the country though it stays pretty looking...

How do you define "the city"?

Tall buildings, gas stations, fast food restaurants etc... congested roads with cars, buses and trucks oozing out pollution....?

:?

How do you define 'the city'?

dominick
08-22-2007, 02:36 PM
Well, as someone who lives in suburbia, "the city" usually denotes the city from which the greater metropolitan area gets it's name. However, I could practically spit into Chicago from here and we have everything but the tall buildings in my town... unless you consider four story to be tall.

You guys don't have gas stations out in the sticks?

...couldnt imagine christmas without snow :( One year I was in CA and it just didnt feel like Christmas at all without it.

Thank you! I've lived in Arizona since '94, and people look at me like I'm crazy when I say I miss snow at Christmas. The people who live here have either lived here their whole lives, and have been brainwashed to think snow is evil, or they moved here from the snow because they absolutely hated it. Being the only snow lover in a 500-mile radius, I feel like I'm in an episode of The Twilight Zone, where I'm the only normal person and everyone else thinks I'm nuts. I want to get back to where people "couldn't imagine Christmas without snow". Those are more my people! It doesn't feel like Christmas at all, when it's 70 degrees outside (which people here think is cold, and ACTUALLY wear jackets when it's 65-70 degrees!). I miss the time leading up to Christmas, as we head into Halloween and Thanksgiving, but it'll be in the 90's all of Sept, 80's through Oct, and above 70 all of Nov.

(And I agree, I have no use for snow after Dec 26th.)

We used to live in Texas as well, that and Mississippi, and it got crazy freakin' hot there. People use to say it was a "dry" heat so it could be worse. I would inform them that I just saw a squirrel explode in a tree and wasn't sure a "dry" heat meant anything when it was 110!!

Here in Alabama we have the triple digit heat and all the humidity. It is awful. I must say, though, that I wouldn't want to live where you have single digit and below zero temperatures all winter either. Maybe one day I can become a person that lives in the north in summer and south in winter. That would be nice!!cheesy

Jack Frost
08-23-2007, 11:00 AM
The only problem is that you can always get warmer by putting on more/heavier clothes. You can only take off so much in the summer before you're arrested.

Plus, when it's cold you want to get up close with people for warmth (not strangers mind you), but when it's hot all you want to do is punch somebody in the head.

JanaBanana

Yeah living in Washington State sure is nice that way... we have all 4 seasons perfectly.. And I live on the "right" side because we get the snow, unlike Seattle that gets the rain. ICK! They have even made a Christmas song about us called "Christmas in the Northwest"

I am so bummed when we have a Christmas (mostly Christmas Eve) without snow!!! Gotta have snow for Christmas. The last few years we have been lucky with the snow, though last year I was really getting worried - it was in the 60's up until about Dec. 22nd or 23rd & then it cooled off & we got a dusting on Christmas Eve & on Christmas day! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

I do like snow in January & February - if it's going to be cold - LET IT SNOW!!!!!!! And I get very tired of looking at brown grass when it's flippin cold & dreary out!!!! LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW to cover up brown grass - on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve & twice a week Nov. 25th through Feb. 20th - I'm not being picky!!
