:)) I thought you all might enjoy this... last year we had a Barn Owl make its home up in the outside peak of our home.. if you notice on my website, the largest wreath way up high..right under the roof there he found a place to come in out of the cold snowy weather... he would sleep there all day and at night go out hunting for mice.. I named him "Baxter" our christmas owl... Im REALLY hoping he comes back this year too, because as soon as the weather cleared he never came back? Here he is...

This is an owl that I drew with a black ink pen. I colored it with crayons and colored pencils then cut it out. Then I glued black construction paper to a small board, then decoupaged on my owl. To finish it off I sprayed it with clear coat.

JanaB, love it! "Baxter" is a cute name...I love owls, sometimes we have a great horned owl in our barn, usually in the spring. Once I saw the silhouette of it, you could see the tufts of hair coming out of the side of the head and it was very big. My mom collected owl stuff, we would buy her owl stuff every year for Christmas until she had to put a stop to it! lol.

:hello: That's cute, Jana - I have plenty of different birds around here, see the odd falcon, but haven't seen an owl of any sort since I was a young.

:)) "To Wit, To Woo" Wise Old Owl used to say before answering a question on Mr. Dressup, a Canadian children's show from a way back. The picture of the owl in Jingle's photo reminds me of the Wise Old Owl. His eyes would roll around while he answered questions.
I only have two owls, one has multi-coloured drips of glass inside it, it's rather heavy and clear so you can see right through (maybe crystal), and I also have a small slate carving of one.

Owls are cool. I hope Baxter, where ever he/she is, is doing fine.

"Too Wit, Too Woo" is what Brown Owl used to say when I was in Brownies. cheesy I remember Mr Dressup (the late Ernie Coombs) and his puppet friend Casey too.

There's a World Owl Trust here in England too. WOT (http://www.owls.org/) and you can listen to owl calls here; Hoot! (http://www.owlpages.com/sounds.php)

I'm from MI I used to watch Mr. Dress Up when I was a kid on CBC. Can't forget Casey and Finnegan. How about the Friendly Giant.
