I'm sure if this exact question hasn't already been asked, it's been asked in a hundred other ways... But this was asked today in a Christmas group & it has generated a lot of very cool responses, so....

What December activities do you all look forward too?

Here was my answer:
I look forward to Christmas shopping w/
my friend - we have been shopping together the 1st Friday of December
for 20 years (this is the 20th year) This year we are going on Nov.
30th, but...close enough to December! ;-) We have a ball - & I am not a
shopper! We start at 8 AM & we usually don't get home until 1:30 AM!!

I look forward to our lake neighbors Christmas party. We only see our
lake neighbors in the summer, but they have included us in their annual
Christmas party, which is the 1st Friday in December. We make the trip
to their place & we get to see everybody again. It's a great time.

I also look forward to candy making day. My 3 sisters, my Mom, my
sister in law & I get together at my Moms the 1st Tuesday in December &
make candy. We all make a different candy (or a couple different kinds)
& then we divide it all up & take it home to give away to neighbors,
friends, etc. (and to eat of course) WOW! Does my Mom & Dads house
smell good!!!

The Christmas movies/specials on tv! I love turning on the tv & there
is almost always a Christmas show playing 24/7 on some channel!! And
listening to Christmas music! I love it! Actually, I start listening to that in
about October! But I love Christmas music playing on the radio!

I look forward to going to the "Enchanted Village." Our local hardware
store turns their garden center into a Christmas Wonderland! I can't
wait!

Burning Christmas candles!! All the scents & smells of Chrismtas. And
drinking holiday flavored coffee's! Mmmmmmmm

Going Christmas caroling! Fa la la la la, la la la la!!!

I would say putting up my tree, but I put that up the day after
Thanksgiving. But I look forward to sitting in the tv room at night w/
all the lights off except for the tree, Christmas candles burning, &
watching a Christmas movie on tv - or listening to Christmas music.

SNOW!

Driving around town at night looking at all the lights and decorations!

And just the feeling in the air around Christmas - "peace on earth
goodwill toward men"

And my most favorite day/night of the year...Christmas Eve at my
parents!!

See - I could keep going on & on!! Lol!! I LOVE CHRISTMAS!!! :-D

Well...since it feels like it's been summer forever here in Atlanta...the December activity I most look forward to is being able to wear a coat! Lol j/k. But seriously...I always take the long way home if I'm out at night in December so that I can see the beautiful Christmas decorations, that's what I really enjoy.

For me
it's these things:

SNOW! (most definitely, although we haven't had none in like 5 years!)

Riding around looking at Christmas lights at nighttime!

Christmas cooking: Cookies, Pies, Pastries!

SHOPPING! - For me, my holiday shopping starts on BLACK FRIDAY and last all the way to CHRISTMAS EVE!!! I LOVE SHOPPING IN THE MALLS WITH ALL THE CHRISTMAS MUSIC PLAYING AND THE HOLIDAY DECORATIONS! IT GETS ME SOOO EXCITED!

Christmas specials on T.V and watching my favorite christmas cartoons!!!!

I ALSO LOVE LISTENING TO CHRISTMAS MUSIC IN FRONT OF THE CHRISTMAS TRUE WITH NO LIGHTS ON!

I LOVE LISTENING TO THE RADIO FOR CHRISTMAS MUSIC, I JUST LOVE WHEN THEY PLAY IT 24/7!

I'M A CHRISTMAS FREAK!!!! LOL!:tree::))

Lets see, first is Christmas day and next is Christmas eve.

Other than those two, I would have to say our truck light show parade.
Our area goes all out with free chili, hot dogs, hot cocoa. The fire department does fire truck rides, santa, gifts and goodies for the kids. Semi and small trucks from all over decorate their rigs and take part in the truck light show.

That day I cook most of the day and watch as the fire trucks go by. I have 2 sons on the fire department and having lived here in same house for over 36 yrs we are known by lots of kids. The trucks go by and blare their sirens for me to wave. I usually make a huge pot of chicken and homemade egg noodle soup. I also make a big pan of biscuits and a few desserts. We have a group of people over starting about 3 in the afternoon, usually anywhere between 20 - 40 people, they bring the salads, side dishes and snacks.
We sit around chatting, playing games and putting finishing touches on any decorating that I haven't finished. We eat at about 5 pm then clean up and get ready for the truck light show as the parade goes right by my house. Outside I have a portable fireplace and we make a fire in it out by the patio for those that want to watch the parade from outside. We also have a marshmallow roast and the kids make smores. By then its time for the trucks to go by, they are usually all so beautiful. You wouldn't believe how many lights they can get onto those trucks. We have a few older people that like to stay in the house to watch the show as it usually is pretty cold outside and the younger ones go outside. The road is usually lined with people and cars but we put up barriers along our fenceline so that no one parks and blocks the view for us. We even have a lot of people come into the yard to get warm and we give them not cocoa and hot spiced cider. If we have smore makings left we let them make some. All in all it makes for one big party and a heck of a good night.

Well for me it would be seeing all of the beautiful Christmas decorations and lights. Listening to Christmas music everyday all day. Lighting my fireplace where the stockings are hung. Our Christmas parties that we attend. It is also the month that I take a extended vacation. And many many others. :tree:

Hmmm...there are so many but I will start with the one that surprised me.

1. Taking my mother Christmas shopping. Many years ago, when my DH and I started dating, he suggested that we take my mother out Christmas shopping for the day. Now, I admit, I was *not* looking forward to it. My mother is so not a Christmas person. Add to that her psychological and physical limitations and the whole thing sounded like a recipe for disaster to me but I did it, and honestly, I'm glad I did.

Our *shopping day* has evolved into an annual event. A special day for my mom, my Dh and I. We take her out shopping, help her find gifts for everyone and then we all go out to dinner together. It's her *special* day. She gets as excited about that day as I do about Christmas and her excitement carries over into the rest of the season. Suddenly, she's not such a scrooge anymore, she's found joy in the Christmas season.

2. Going to the Nutcracker ballet with my DH. We've done that every year for the past few years.

3. Christmas cooking and baking.

4. Christmas music and movies and tv specials

5. Christmas shopping

....I guess my list could go on and on and on. :tree:

THere are so many things that I look forward too and love to do.
Decorating the house inside and out.
Taking the kids to see Santa
Packing the kids up in the van and driving around to look at the lights and decorations in the area. Our town has a house decorating contest so it's neat to see all the different decorations.
Baking
Watching the christmas shows, movies, and specials on the foodnetwork channel.
Hearing Christmas music everywhere.
Shopping and wrapping gifts
Candy Canes!
If we are lucky enough for snow before christmas - making a snowman.
Seeing the excitement and magic in my kids faces

I look forward to decorating my home inside and out.
I also love the fact that it's cool enough to actually cook and bake in the house (I tend to use the BBQ allot in the summer).
I enjoy listening to my Kenny G christmas CD...makes me relax.
I really like to start prepping all my Christmas cards to friends and family, I always send a recent picture of my daughter to everyone.
While decorting my tree I love to take a few secornds looking at my ornaments and the memories they take me back too.
I love making candies and fudge and all that yummy stuff and prepping plates for neighbors and friends.
The list really does go on.
