When we were young children, our parents let us put all the decorations any way we liked. Now, Mum is in charge and it's all colour coded and done as tastefully as possible.
In my flat at uni we just slapped a load of fairy lights everywhere; not very festive really.

I usually set stuff up wherever I find room. I usually don't stick to a certain theme, and yes, I go crazy with decorations.

LOL I like to call it little boy decor. Our tree has anything theboys have made for us, plus anything that isn't breakable, as our tree has been accidentally attacked many times. Poor tree. LOL
My favorite Christmas decor is a nativity I keep on the buffet table, and a 2 ft tall Santa Clause from 1944 that belonged to my father.
On the outside of the house, DH puts a border of red/white c9 bulbs across the roofline. A border of our yard is green c9 bulbs.
We also have this yardart-- DH made it for me for Christmas 3 years ago. I love it soo much! (winfieldcollection.com)

Last year we added some snowflake lights hanging from our oak tree out front.
It's simple, we dont have a large yard, so I think it works well. :D

I don't usually have a theme. I think it it more fun to put up stuff and not have to match it.

my bathroom is all penguins and I have them scattered all throughthe house... my tree is very fun colored lights, white garland, santa bows I like the fun whimsical look. The complete opposite of what I grew up with my mom was obsessed with the victorian christmas theme.not for me.

At home I am the one who usually does most of the decorating but my mother choses all the decorations and they are all colour coordinated. At my house at uni we went crazy and brought a whole load of decorations. The house looks so cool but rather tacky, I think we might have gone slightly over the top:yahoo:

We don't really have a theme. Our tree and apartment is kind of a mish mosh of decorations. One day....soooooooon.....I want to have an all Oz tree. You'd be surprised how many Oz ornaments there are. Here's my December blog entries from last year where I show how the Wizard of Oz ties in to Christmas and picture a small sampling of ornaments.

I like all sorts of ornaments and decorations. I'm especially fond of Santas with animals. I want to get glass ornaments of animals from the Holly Claus book.

I kind of have a theme..for example I love Disney (Mickey Mouse) so my main tree is pretty much Disney ornaments (with a few other non Disney), 3 of my mini trees are semi themed too..the first is a white tree with blue lights and a small angel on top..I wanted to keep this basic, the 2nd mini tree is mini ornaments mostly Disney along with a few others like the coca cola bear, tweety bird and taz etc etc, the third mini has vintage ornaments...

Anyone coming to my house would say "Teddy Bears." I do have a lot of them and find it hard to resist a new bear when I see one.

I guess you'd call mine a Nostalgia Tree theme. It is covered in ornaments from my childhood, my first Christmas with my hubby, the kids' first Christmas, ornaments the kids have made every year as they've grown up.
I love to remember and recall each ornament as it's taken out of the box and hung on the tree. It is very special to me!

I love the Victorian Christmas style and gingerbreadmen. I love decorating my home with small objects everywhere (mostly in the living room, the kitchen & dining room). I sometimes forget to remove them all and find some weeks after Christmas!
This year, I'll try to decorate the garden as well with lights :-)

my room's color is mostly lavender with some white and tiny bit of light blue, so my tree matches this color scheme.
it's lovely, and lavender/light purple ornaments are pretty rare to find over here, so whenever I see one I have to buy it =]
